Race Results (http://www.atvriders.com/results/2005_gncc_12_youth_atv_results.html)

The youth racers rolled into Powerline Park for the 5th round of the Youth GNCC series. Racer Productions had a 2 mile course layed out for the riders, and what a course it would be. High speed field sections combined with open woods and a few tight stretches that would test the young riders.

Unfortunatley the rain turned what would have been one of the best tracks into a swamp. Slick clay gave way to a sturdy track but everything was as slick as one could imagine. Over 50 entires braved the elements to do battle on this Ohio battleground.

#161 Joshua Dains has been stomping his way to the top each round this season, and had proven in the past he knew how to handle the mud.

Keleman appeared first out of the woods and was looking to get as big of a gap built as he could. With the talent in this class so fierce, every second counts!

As the first 6 or 8 90cc Production riders cleared the woods, the 90 Limited riders started getting into the mix. Again, huge bottlenecks had claimed riders and now everyone was going to have thier work cut out for them.

Parents that had ventured into the woods returned with stories of carnage:p Bottlenecks, wrecks and general mudfest riding conditions were taking heavy tolls on alot of riders even if this was only the first lap!

The rain started getting heavier and I turned to the open field sections on my way to cover. The wide open fields allowed alot of riders the chance to pass and to catch thier breath

As the rain continued, the young riders pressed on. Bottlenecks continued on every lap and from the reports I was getting, you either were sitting at a hill waiting for your turn or you were faced with open track ahead. The mud sure makes races interesting!

Young Colin Dunn was back at it at the Powerline, and did his best to battle the conditions.

In the back ground, another racer passes who I believe was Walker Fowler stopped at on of his pit locations. By the first lap he had enough breathing room to make changes, goggles etc.

Canan Summerfield rides in our local series, and I expresed to his parents that after seeing him ride, they needed to get him to a GNCC. I was happily rewarded with my recomendation as he clawed his way to 6th in the 90cc Production class!

Cody Hill's day just wasnt going the way he wanted it to. After the race he said the biggest problems he faced was the bottlenecks and his inability to hang on to the bars.

Cody was involved with another class rider early on lap 1 where his front tire got caught behind the front tire of another quad. They spent several minutes trying to free themselves. Some of these quads weigh 3 times as much as thier riders and the heart they all show is inspiring!

Cody finished a dismal 13th, but we were all grateful he was atleast in attendance after his crash and that the resulting injury did not affect his race.

The next and final stop in the Youth series will be the Ironman in two weeks. The points battle in several classes will be decided at that race and I can only imagine the racing will be intense. We look forward to racing and getting even more coverage in hopefully much better conditions!

Everyone be safe, and we will see you all in Indiana!

The rain played havoc with my camera as well this weekend, and I was stressed for time this race trying to get ready for the morning race since I didn't arrive till after dark on Friday, but I did manage to snap a few photos.

In the 90cc Limited Joshuah Dains grabs the Holeshot with Seth Mumford right behind him just as they finished out the race 47 minutes later with only 6 seconds seperating the pair.

Colin Dunn didn't fair well in the mud and was finished before the end of the 1st lap, but hopefully will have better luck at the Ironman where it all started last year when ATVriders.com gave away a Kasea with the help of Pappy and other members to Brandon Boso.

Brandon Boso was on his way to his first win of the season until he ran into a bottleneck, which sent him back to third when Seth Mumford and Joshua Dains were able to find a line around him while he sat.

"I was fifth off the line because one of my brakes got stuck, and I worked my way back up to first until the bottlenck", said Brandon Boso

Walker may have one the Overall, but this little guy, Michael Mussi kept the hammer down as well to win the 70cc Class by completing five laps, which was more than anyone else in the class and earned him the spot on the Homepage of ATVriders.com.

Joshua Dains had his mom in attendance for the first time this season if I remember correctly, and he was able to pull off his fourth podium appearance of the season by edging out Cheyne Gravley by just one second to earn the final podium spot.

Cody Hill was lucky to even be racing this weekend after fracturing his wrist, but his luck stopped there as he ran into numerous problems on the track, but he will be back and hopefully 100% for the Ironman.

I am proud of you Cody for not given up:D

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the Youth Coverage even if it was a little shorter than usual, but with the sloppy conditions, camera issues, and limited time. Kenny and I did our best to bring you the youth racing action.
