I was wondering if anyone else has tried this. I hope that I am not wasting time and $$.

Well, the old a-arm/spindle ball joint boots on my 250x are dry rotted and torn. Since the ball joints seem to be in good shape, I got the bright idea to replace the boots. After a little research, I found some from Energy Suspension that I think will work (part no. 9.13103). They are listed on most sites as tie rod boots for a Civic or CRX.:huh

For about 5 bucks to replace all four, I figured "WHY NOT". Has anyone else attempted this with any success?

I doubt anyone else has tried it, but please let us know how it comes out.

I took everything loose and cut the torn boots away from the ball joint. The boots from energy suspension fit perfectly. I put some glue around the base to get them to stay put. I don't know how that's going to hold up. Anyway, they are new boots and will keep the crap out of the joints better than the old torn ones.

***And please, refrain from any comments on the crappy paint job. This definitely ain't no "show bike"!

You shouldnt cut the boots remove cotter pins spin off those upper & lower ball joint nuts 17mm give the spindle a good hard smack with a hammer & those parts will be free no problem to corectly install those boots if the joints are good gluing up the tear in the boots you made will offer little protection against the elements & wont last.

Dave14, you misread my post. I did take the ball joints loose from the spindle, but I used a ball joint seperator. I've learned the hard way about "smacking things with a hammer".

I only glued around the bottom edge where the boot seats around the ball joint. I did NOT cut the new boots at all.

Are the 400EX ball joints the same size? Could you use a zip tie to hold the Energy seal on, rather than glue?
