well what does your "440" consist of? We need details to tell you what you can improve on.

easy, Athena 434 kit, run the drz base gasket, install drz valve springs, both hotcams, and a rev box. and a exhuast, lol

hot cams,ct exaust,40mm fcr carb with cable from service honda.com 15 tooth sprocket and you will have a machine that will keep up and spank some of the stock 450s with mine i could beat a 450r with a hrc kit and that ain't no joke but if a yzf had a pipe and some jetting i could not take it and if the 450r had a pipe i could beat it( like a duncan 4 fatboy pipe)

1st thing would be to pull that low comp piston out and get the ratio to atleast 12:1. Get a set of cams, if you go with the new style Hot Cams they'll have the auto decomp feature the old ones did'nt have. Next thing, get a higher rpm rev box so you can take advantage of the cams, i suggest Dyna's because of their adjustability. Install an FCR 39, they're the best for the Z motor, the 40mm works good but only if your really going nuts with your motor. A full exhaust system is definitely needed, most of the manufactures are within a 1/2 hp with each other. Alot of people will argue with me on this but i know from experience....if your gonna have it ported..have it done by a PROFESSIONAL...like TC Racin' engines, Yoshimura or Dab racing, more than 99% of the time, you'll lose hp by having some Joe Blow do it. I've talked to TC and the East Coast dealer for Yoshi and they said you'll only gain 1-3 hp at the most with a proper port job, you'll more likely to hurt it performance rather than help it! For anyone who disagrees....call TC Racing and they'll fill you in!
