quick question (oil filter cover)

hopefully someone can answer this pretty quick for me. if i take the oil filter cover off is it gonna loose a bunch of oil or not even drip any out? i just dont feel like loosing a bunch.

Some will come out,...... 1/4 cup maybe?

if you have drained the oil then like he said 1/4th cup comes out but if it hasent been drained yet then it may leak it all out.
