It's that time again...My 250r needs a new top end. My question to all of you is: What kind of piston should i go with? Wiseco, Oem Honda, or something else. Your help is always greatly apreciated. Thanks. By the way, i want a higher compression piston also.

Might wanna call or e-mail this guy and ask him if he makes any for the 250r. http://www.vitosperformance.net/sys-tmpl/door/

Hands down he makes the best high performance 2-stroke pistons. They are basically modified wiesco pistons. Everyone I ride with that has a Yamaha uses his piston. I had one in my old Blaster. Don't know if he makes one for a 250r. I think he has dyno charts on his site so you can compare a regular piston with his.

How long have you had your wiseco in there?

Thanks. I'm checking it out as we speak.

No such thing as a high compression piston for a 250R. I would suggest a Niks Pro-X piston and have it bored to .0025"-.003". Make sure you relieve the exhaust port, radius the port edges, and drill 2 or 3 oil holes to cool the exhaust bridge.

NIKS OR ART! Its the only way to go. Niks and art are basically the same thing, Niks makes ART. Art is honda's oem piston. They last longer and wont cold seize near as easy as a wiseco. The wiseco's are a lil lighter (very little) but The reliability of a Art/Niks is way better.
TRX250R87,
you do all of those mods to a brand new niks piston?

I was definitely looking at Niks. Hey TRX250R87 could you explain in more detail this: Make sure you relieve the exhaust port, radius the port edges, and drill 2 or 3 oil holes to cool the exhaust bridge?

I don't quite understand it. I think you want me to get rid of the carbon build up if there is any, but i'm not exactly sure. Thanks. Also, do you think i should hone it out a very tiny bit?

You shoul probably have it bored to be freshest.Wisexco makes the pistons for vitos , They have a higher dome and or different ring heights. Wisecos are forged so they usually never break , since they are forged you need a little more clearance than a cast (art /niks/prox) sometimes they seem a little noisier. If you want to make it really fast you could buy my sleeved.TRX 295 cyl it is used but its real fresh . It will make your TRX rock. You are from Jersey ? I live near NJTP EXIT 8 . If you need a cyl bored that can be arrainged also . We also do high performance piston coatings .deanholonics@msn.com FASTWAYMOTOSPORTS

Dean does Vito make pistons for the 250r?

His pistons also have a notch in the dome which opens the exhaust port faster. Making a faster rev. and more power.

thoses vito pistons are wisecos. they cut the exaust side of the piston, its like raiseing the exaust port and freeing up the compresson to make it rev faster. if more compression your wanting. cool head with smaller domes, have you stock head cut. use a cr250head gasket. far a pistons wisecos wear faster reguire you to fully warm the engine before you ride it and they are forged al. the niks and stock pistons are cast and seam to last longer. my dr powervalve uses a wiseco that they modify.
