im thinking about buyng a used 440 of one of my buddies for real cheap. its the whole cylinder and sleeve piston and wrings. would you recomend using the used cylinder and rings. also would you recomend getting any thing to compliment the 440. i already have a stg 2 cam p&p and a extra oil cooler. would i need to do anything to the tranny for the extra torque
also it has a 12.5:1 piston is there any way i could avoid running race gas

Run half race gas and half 93 octane. Id pop in a new CRF450 Timing chain while your at it, its gonna stretch the stocker like nobody's buisiness. :macho

It may be a good idea to get new rings and hone the cylinder since it's already apart. Maybe even install HD studs.

From what I've seen the heavy duty studs hold better than heli-coils.

Heli coils are in there because the old studs pulled out. HD studs is the way to go, but I think you probably ought to pass up on this deal. Sounds like it is going to cost you money and time in the long run.
