450R Problem HELP!

I was at the race on Sunday and my R lost all of its power. I feel there is a problem with the carb. The throttle feels like it is caching something in the carb when you press the throttle. Not sure if the clip feel off the needle or the butterfly broke. Anyone have this happen? Thanks!

it didnt happen to me, but i guess just tear the carb/ apart and look in there.

does it still run?
does it idle?
does it rev without touching the throttle?...etc

tell us all the problems

It runs and idles but when you rev it up it cuts out about half throttle. I am going to take it apart tonight. Just trying to get some info. Thanks!

another problem would be maybe your main jet fell out, i've seen that before on a 3 wheeler my dads friend was working on. It would start and idle fine and once at half throttle it would just cut out and sputter.(too much gas.)

tear it apart and tell us what was wrong

All I did was take the cap off the carb to see if the main was sitting in it. I will take it apart tonight.

How long have you had your 450R. There was a problem with plastic shavings in the fuel tank. It sounds like your main jet is clogged with something. Look in the carb and take off the tank to look for plastic shavings.

I have one of the first 2004's.

That is when the problem was, but I couldn't see it taking this long for it to happen. Either way that is my guess. Good luck

I had the same thing happen to me at GNCC last year. When i got home i took the carb apart to find that the plastic clip that opens the slide had broke. If i were you i would take the top off the carb and check that first. if you dotn want to tear it apart right away take your boot off the back(air cleaner to carb) and watch and see if the slide opens when you push the throttle

Patte440 that would make sence way the trottle feels funny. Can you just order that part you are talking about?

I really dont know for sure. At the time i had a 400ex that was in the middle of being parts out so i took it off the 400 and it worked fine. When it happen to me my first reaction was it was electrical and then i had the air box off for some reason and found out the slide would not open.

Well I found the problem. The two little screews that hold the needle in place feel off. Thanks for the info!
