Hey there is a great place to ride in Illinois. It's called South Fork Dirt Riders. there is 320 acres of trails and a huge motocross track. they have over 20 races a year. Everyone check it out. it costs $10 a day to ride or $200 for a year membership.

Thats cool cuz i'm a member there too. that place seems to flood a lot, because it is down in the river bottoms.

Got a couple of questions:

Do they close it when it floods, or do they let you get dirty?

Is it mostly racing or do they more trails?

How far is it from Springfield?

It doesn't close when it floods, you just have to use a different entrance. You can get as muddy as you want.

There are about 300 acres or more of trails, and they have an MX track, a kiddie track, and they are putting in a TT track. There are plenty of trails if you like that and decent tracks if that's what you want. The MX track is 1.5 miles.

I live in Springfield, takes me about 30 minutes to get there from here. Take I-55 to Pawnee exit (Exit 80 maybe) then about 20 miles to Kincaid, then it's about 3 miles past Kincaid, very easy to find. Right off of Rt 104.

Me and a couple of buddies went there this weekend. I really had a blast riding the MX track. That was the first time I have ever rode anything like that. Once I got some courage up to go over the jumps, it sure makes it more fun. It was just hotter than a mother, this weekend. We camped thier a boiled our a~~ off.

We were in the pop up camper right in the middle of the parking lot. We had an older blue Ford F150 and a newer Silver Ford F150.

Mity Mo,

I did not race, and I only got to see the practice session for the quads, but what color is your quad?
From what I can remember, I only remember seeing 1 honda that was set up for racing. Did you come in late saturday night and sleep in a trailer?

Phew, I thought you might have been somebody else. Because of the group I was with, we only stayed till 10am. How did you do in the race. How did the guy on the Cannondale do, he looked pretty good.

The reason I asked when you came, was because a guy came late Saturday night, and setup his trailer and set a generator about 100 feet from where we trying to sleep. So I went over and told the guy he had to turn it off, because we couldn't sleep. I was afraid it might have been you.

How often do you race there. I definatly want to go back again, but it is a 4 hr ride, and my riding buddies have a hard time getting away without the kids.

I sponsor those guys in that trailer. The cannondale guy didnt do bad considering he was the only B rider. They let him go with us A guys and he got lapped. But in his defense its only his 4th race I think. I got caught between two banshees and never got around them. That track has such high speed straightaways that my poor fourstroke wouldnt pull around them. But I finished 4 or 5th overall. Made $10 for the effort so not to bad. Plus my bike is missing something fierce. I will be there again on Sunday the 7th to race again. I try to hit all of their races because I like their track. Mo:D

Now I am really mad that I did not get to see the quads race. I was going to stay by myself, but that would have been boring, so I just left with my friends. I am definatly going to have to go back down there and see you race. Maybe you can give me a few pointers. I am pretty new to riding, and my buddy is so much faster than I am. Be nice to be able to beat his *** around the track.

Do you race anywhere father north like closer to Chicago? I would be really interested to see the quads run. Let me know.

As of yet I havent raced too much up north. But we are coming into a two wek off period around here and I think we are planning a few trips up there to see the tracks. Mo;)

Maybe a better question is where are the tracks up here? I don't know of where any are.

07-03-2002, 12:40 PM
I would race, but I am 15 and you have to be 16 to race quads.
