it'll look bad when suzukis top of the line race quad, for 1986, gets beat by a blaster:( i still have a few days to squeeze a pony or two more out of it though. :)

what time and where's the test session at J? i'll be there! we also might be heading up to treverton/shamokin next weekend for some test and tune.

the race is the last sunday of this month right? do they open it up for practice saturday, the day before? i assume the course is a different, longer layout then the intermediate atv course they have. i kinda wanted to go riding there that weekend (saturday). i'll go down to watch on sunday perhaps.

The race is on Sat. There is no pratice the days before.
From what I understand there will be a live web broadcast of the event. That means that you can get it right as it happens. They did this last year and again at the 6 hr race this year at Rausch Creek.

Im transforming my MX416ex into the 12 hour 416ex! I have a ton of work to do with 1 day and friday to work on it(im working my job) but i should be transforming it quite a bit. PRM bumper, razr 2s instead of MXs.. stock swinger back on with swinger skid plate, full plastic with gabriel racing(they are sponsoring us) instead of my cut MX plastic, and hopefully the stock lights and trail tech lights. Might be using ohlins front shocks valved for XC in place of my front axis. We are going to be trying the B-class.

Jason,

Mention there names as much as possible they deserve it. They were key in helping us last year. Colby knows his stuff and is very good at quick pits.

I seriously doubt you could convert them though as they seem to have honda emblems in their blood.

Hopefully we will all pit near one another and I'll get the chance to meet the people who stole our pit crew.:D

The weather report looks favorable for Saturday. Looks like sunny and in the 60's, although we have a winter storm watch right now in Central Pa with snow warnings in the higher elevations.

Rt 80 coming east in the Snow Shoe, Clearfield, area looks like it will be scary. It's the highest place on 80 east of the Mississippi, so the weather goes south pretty quickly!

However, Saturday should be a beautiful day in Central Pennsylvania!

it's rained since last night, steady all day. suppose to clear up tomorrow afternoon till friday. saturday is still too far off for an accurate weather forcast IMO. i'm sure the Rausch Creek crew will do their best to have the track as good as it can get. there was no hope for it at the 6hr but with a couple nice days they can drain and fill all the nasty sections.

Sorry for stealing C&D away! I know Colby has the bike 100% and if we do our part as racers he won't have much to do for team FD Racing. We have our fingers crossed anyway! I can't say enough about Colby and Dusty and all the amazing things they have done for Angela and I. I hope that everyone gives them a shot at their business! Great people and willing to go the extra mile for ya! We feel very fortunate to have met them.

As for the race, snow would be a new dimension that we haven't attempted yet. I am hoping for above freezing and not to sloppy. I would rather not engage the 4wd. Pretty hard on the machine! Last time I checked it still worked if we need to flip the button.
Is it Saturday yet????

hahahahaha, i rode with stock 450 lights at the 6 hour and it was near impossible to see, so we didnt want to take any chances.

what we'll see....they need to be raised up somewhat they are pointed to low right now.these lights work really well compared to the big lights.if we had to we could run the race just with these.

I Dont think Fuel prices should be the excuse for the lower turn out..

I seen the comment somewhere that if the race was in Iowa many wouldnt have made it,Well there were many teams that would have went to Iowa and not Rausch as well..

It takes time for any venue to fill all the classes..

I for 1 would like to see it in a Warmer climate, Not that I dont like the Cold its not to bad but Warmer weather would draw more people, including spectators.. Also some bleachers for people to watch from.

Even know we were racing a Ute I liked the mx at Rausch and I will be racing a Sport Quad next year for sure.

We Broke a tie rod and couldnt get towed back.He broke near that Rocky uphill(the only hill) they couldnt get a quad or rhino to pul him out so we were 5 laps down when we finally got the reapir made in the woods. then we did 4 more laps and blew it up.

Still had fun tho!!

we led the first lap for ATVRiders.com in the 30+ class...................
then we pitted for 4 laps or so to change a motor?????? we got back out and ran the rest of the race @ 5 laps down got 6th in 30 plus and 28th overall on the silver 250R...long live the R!!!!

we were pitted on the far side (Borich side) down at the end near the first turn.............Lou, PM your address and I'll ship u a new rad hose!!!!!!!thanks... Oh and by the way.. the rules state that only people marked as mechanics can wrench on the bikes..........check out the race pics and you'll see at least 9 people helping on the overall winners quad when they pitted with trouble!!! Team 999 pitted every lap on the main straight out of there box right next to the flag poles???? And even team 101 got some help from a neihboring pit during an axle swap!!!!
We even witnessed a Pro team with like 6 guys pushing their quad back in!!!!!!!!!Maybe Pendegrast was being a lil soft, but these are rules we all have to follow.......We told our other team to stay clear when we were swapping engines so that we would not be penelized for getting help...........then we witnessed alot of rule bending going on??????

Oh and while I'm spouting off...........i did not feel comfortable having a GNC Pro launching 60-80 ft. past me on the MX track with a stealth stock quad (the shootout).....we could not hear them coming...I nearly took out Brown cause he doubled and i chickened out!!!! I had know idea he was there.......another guy i talked to got knocked off the track in a turn and crashed by one of the test riders doing a "shootout"!!!!!!!Stupid planning stupid idea!! end of story!!!

Where to start? First off, I am thankful there was no snow. It was a little cool, but that is better on the machines anyway.

The next thing I would like to say is thank GOD for such a tremendous team. We have to be one of the luckiest teams around. C&D Racing did a phenomenol job prepping our Prairie for the race. I have rode the quad all summer in harescrambles and thought it was fast. It was indeed fast, but nothing compared to what it was when it came back from Omaha. We (Jarrod Sheets and Kevin Wehde and I) got on it and each rode an hour to start the race and after we each had a turn we agreed that it was the best Prairie we had ridden. The power delivery from the Fundy powersports motor was smooth from the bottom. It hit hard, but not to hard that it was out of control. Very smooth! From there on up it pulled as hard as any sport quad that you can find. There are no flat spots from 0 to 69 mph.

To finish my origional thought, MEGA THANK YOUS to Colby and Dusty for the race prep and tapping power that I didn't know was possible. I am not aware of another team that rode the whole 12 hours without a mechanical failure. There had to be another one besides us, but we saw most teams battling issue after issue. We had one flat tire because I was pushing for a sub 14 minute lap. I contribute this tremendous accomplishment a direct result of the hours of race prep that went into this quad. Thanks to C&D Racing for the prep and my teammates for their tremendous riding. Thank you Jarrod and Kevin on behalf of myself and my bike. It isn't easy man-handling a tank through the woods, but they did it with great care and kept my quad in one piece despite never riding it prior to the gunshot.

In addition, there are several people who made this the most fun 12 hours of ATV America thus far. Pat Kirkland, FD Racing teammate (who ran a sportsman in the Iowa Series) deserves a special thank you for his diligent lap timing and updates on the competition, as well as his lighting specialities. Mike Floor, also another Iowa Harescramble rider who went along to help where needed as well as comic relief, Colby and Dusty for their help in the pits as well as the prep (Colby is rapid fire with a quick fill can), Kevin and Jarrod for running a very smart race, and Kevin's parents Brad and Val for their tremendous support the entire weekend.

Finally, my lovely wife Angela for putting up with me for the weeks leading up to the main event. She has been very supportive! We should also mention that thanks to Dusty and Angela we all ate better the four days we were gone than we do a lot of time at home. (that is a compliment in case you were wondering)

All I can do now is dream about next year. Unless it is in Alaska or Hawaii I plan to be in attendance.

Jhughes,

I agree totally about with the Stock Quad Shootout> They should not have been out there riding while there was a race going on and I dont care if they were Pro riders or not.Pat Brown took out Phil cole in the 1st couple corners I would have been pissed!

As for the pitcrew helping,Everyone in a pit is considered part of the crew. If you broke on the track only the riders themselves can make a repair or help push as long as your in the pits its a free for all as far as crew members and help in the pits..

We were broke and out of the race, My teamate and I watched alot of the mx course,We put up the caution tape on 2 of the double jumps there were a few teams that rode around some of them Double jumps)

Team 999, and Team 22 Both cheat and cut out the Jumps which is totally B.S.Team 22 actually stopped when we were yelling and calling them cheaters and said "you cant go around them ya have to roll them" Were like YEA! We couldnt believe it.

last years rules and entry form had a spot for pit crew and mechanics and stated that only those listed could work on the quad!!!

oh well no big deal........the pitting by the flagpole thing really had me fired up.....the team had there dump can and spare basically sittin on the track and were pitted in the spot before ours....more than once they almost took out riders while pitting....

we ( the offocial) told several teams about pitting out out of pit lane and not close enough to thier pit box. One team was told if they did did it agian it was going to hjave two laps taken away.
It was very hjard to watch all pit lane because we didn't have enough people to watch the pit lane.

79400ex- Hazardous racing wanted to thank you again for a great job keeping everyone in line throughout the race, and thanks for helping us stay high and dry this time around in the pits!

We broke 5 1/2 hours in and came home disappointed. But we're really looking forward to next years 6 hours at Rausch, and we hope the 12 hours stays there. We're punk teenagers working our way through college and can't afford to go all the way to Iowa... yet.

Also-Big thanks to Garret from Shock Pros. He gave us some free shock covers to rock out for the race. And he even gave me a set for my KFX, Thanks a lot Garret!

Congratulations everyone who finished

Thanks for the nice comment. We worked very hard getting ready for the race and hoped it would turn out that way. Still coming down from the high. I wish that the Brute would have held together for you, it is no fun to go out early. You guys did great on it for not having any seat time. I know that bike is a handful! It was great getting to visit with you and the rest of the teams around us. We had fun conversing and trying to keep warm. Can't wait for next years event, or the Iowa series for that matter. I think it is going to be a long winter!

To address some of the things that Jhughes questioned. If you noticed I was walking the pits most of the time looking for teams that were piting outside in the race track. A few were in the middle of the pit lane when I was there. Maybe after I left they pited outside. It is hard to be in all of the places at the same time. I looked in the rules this morning again and could find nothing saying about who could work on the atv when it was in the pit area. It is not in the posted rules. In the pit area, anyone can work on an atv. On the track, only the riders can work on the atv.
At the riders meeting on Friday night we said that the 2nd session would be starting at 4. This is about 2 hr after the 1st session ended. It is not 2 hrs after the 1st place gets the checked or the last rider comes though. that is the way that it has been for the other 3 years, so why change?
