hey guys, i had my first race the other weekend and i raced my raptor pretty much stock except for exhaust and all the airfilter things you can do. i pretty much got smoked by the tricked out yfz's. does anyone know of some engine mods i can do to keep up better?

a +4 axle, and a good a-arm/shock combo will do wonders.....

what kind of racing are you doing?? i have mine bored out to 686, with an 12:1 piston stage 2 cam and ported etc and if i remember right it hit 60 on an dyno. not all useful power on an mx or sx track, but who cares right?? 90% rider 10% bike

i do mx racing. did you send your engine to someone to have it ported and everything? and where did you get your big bore kit?

you should be able to get a good local guy to do it for a good price, sending it out usually costs a fair amount because most places charge an arm and a leg for something the old time machinists will do for very little... as for the piston cam, im not sure where the parts came from... i guess my memory is shot...

i'd be carefull about letting any joe schmoe port your bike... sure they all will be happy to do it, but man it took my a long time to let anybody touch the inside of my bike- i dont trust too many people with it cuz there are a lot of idiots in the world... course i was dealing with an orignal 250 that hasnt been made in 16 years, a little different situation, but i would look into the shops a little more before you let somebody start jacking around in your engine... just my 2 cents...
