Using reverse

Iam thinking of buying a new atv for racing harescramble.A lot of people say to get one with reverse.This was my first year racing harescramble and I think I used reverse maybe 3 times.So I would like to know if you race harescramble do you think reverse is a most.

I like to know that it is there if I need it. I used it like 8 times in 12 harescrambles this year. I use it alot when I am just out riding for fun though. Josh

I thought it was a must, but after racing this year, I too used it very sparingly. I will say though, the most useful place for it is when you get behind a bottleneck, if you have reverse, you can back up and get around them easier than without reverse you kinda just sit there and wait your turn. other than that, if you are a good enough rider, you can do without it during a race anyway.

I thought that was going to be my only regret when I bought my YFZ but I have gotten used to it and really dont need it.
