i was pricing subs today and im either gonna get 2 10" rockford p1's or 1 12" p1. but what im wondering is would a 12" p1 hit good and be close to as loud as 2 10"s? ive got the amp picked out, its a 400 watt kenwood. so what should i go with?

ive never understood why people always have to have 12" subs. ive always had 10" without a problem. 10's seem to hit harder and be more clear, if 12's arent hooked up right they tend to distort at max volume, jmo

I agree 100% with this and also i would save up and get maybe (1) JL 10" sub. I had a W7 and it hit harder and sounded better then most guys with 2 crappy 12"s

ya thats what i was thinking, ive heard 12's are overrated and that a good 10" can actually hit harder. so you guys think i should go with the 10"?

I have a single Cerwin Vega Vmax 10" in a sealed .8 cubic foot box in my centre console.
love it! works great saves space and sounds good, hit's hard and clear.

people that have 12's like the lower bass they produce.. the reason they distort is because they are UNDERPOWERED.. a 10 cannot hit some notes that a 12 can and thats why people choose them.. period..

Also, underpowering will blow a sub/speaker real quick so make sure you have ample power going to them. Overpowering is safer than underpowering..

i agree but you can't give something 1000 continuous wats when it 800 watts max. it will blow quick ...but underpowering it isnt good either..so i say you get the amp set up right so you put continuous watts flowing so you dont mess your speaker up..
