Just thought i would let you guys in on this, First off i work at a place that has a ton of heavy equipment so im always getting oil reps in that want me to try there oils.
So after a rep from mystic oil (citgo) told me about an oil that some guys were running on those legends cars the ones with the streetbike motors, they were dropping engine temperatures by just switching to this oil and he had a few dragbikes that had switched to it for the same reason.
So he gave me a free case to try it out so we took 3- 400ex's and put new oil in them the same kind we had all been running all along in each bike and set up a little test we used a raytec laser temperature gun. this is what we found.
400ex-maxxima premium 20-40 - 177 degrees
400ex-bel-ray exp synthetic 20-50 - 175 degrees
400ex-pj1 goldfire synthetic 20-50 - 175 degrees
This was firing the bikes up at 75 degrees and letting idle for 5 minutes. the three bikes all had different pipes and jets and one was total stock.
then cooled motors down filled all three up with mystic sx-8 15-50 and changed filters and got these results starting them back up at 75 degrees
400ex piped and jetted- 164 degrees
400ex stock - 166 degrees
400ex piped and jetted- 162 degrees
This oil is great i have had it in mine for about 18 hours now and is still clear. And according to the manufacturer it is wet clutch safe. and is only $2.58 a quart We bought it at a place called royal lubricants in magnolia ohio off a guy named clayton the phone number is 330-455-9900
They say any time you drop temperature with oil you have reduced friction so longer motor life. Since we did this i know about 20 people now running this same oil and loving it.

Very interesting. Keep us updated on how it performs in the long run (after one oil change)

One friend with the bike that was running the bel ray has already changed his twice he said about 15 hours on the first change and about 20 on the secon both times the oil was still just a light brown color. He also said according to him""" He seems to be using less gas than he normally does? I cant verify that for sure but he honestly beleives that.

Sounds great, think an auto parts place would have it?

First, yes it is a synthetic blend and as far as being able to get it in Florida i would say you should be able to i dont know about an auto parts store but you could do a search for mystic oil on the web. If i find a dealer search page i'll let ya know.

I would be ineterested to see running temps after you've rode for an hour, temps from idle are useless IMO as that is not real world.

BTW: this post is six years old and we have not been revolutionized by this oil as far as I know.

Would be interesting to hear more though.

What is the best weight to run in a 400EX. How do you find out if it is wet clutch safe? Does anyone know how to get in touch with barbwire44? This site isn't the most user friendly. It keeps telling me to log in, or that I am not allowed to post or reply to anyone.
