i am having a hard time deciding between getting a black 06 450r or a red one. Im worried about the black getting worn or scratched easier than the red. If you were to get a black 450 would you go with a all black theme or black and chrome theme, or would you just go with a red one??

Thanks in advance

You know what they say......

(Once you go black, ya never go back) LOL!

Until You meet me, oh wait a second, I wouldn't have your *** after you went black.

Seriously though, black is going to be harder to care for, but I personally think it looks a better. Gonna scratch like crazy though?

:ermm:

Get the black and put up with it. You know if you get red, you'll wish you had gotten black anyway. Plus, the 450R red plastic starts getting a tint of pink after a year or so...

my 05 is black.
looks like crap until i rub it down with Meguires (spelling) Tech Protectant.

buy a black one......then, after a year or so when the plastic looks like crap, you'll have an excuse to buy fresh new funky colored aftermarket plastic!!! it will go over better with the wife, if you have a good reason for purchasing new plastic. ;)
somehow, saying "i just want a different color" doesn't go over too well.

my 400's red plasitc looks like crap after a year. All the scratches turned white. You are buying to ride, not to show. I could understand if it was a street bike which would only be on pavement.

buy whichever one you want more then if you dont like it just wait till it is all worn out then buy a different color.

Or you can put graphics on ASAP to SAVE the plastic.
The places mine is scratched the most would've been fine if I had a graphics kit and number backgrounds. If/when I get new plastics, you bet your *** a graphics kit and number backgrounds are going on before I even think about taking it inthe woods.

yah that sounds like a good idea what do you mean by number backgrounds like for the back fenders or where.

Thanks

yup exactly. Aside of all the little scratches from my legs/knees rubbing, I've got a few deep ones from where I dragged my boot across the rear fender because I was tired and not paying attention. They're right around the same spot where the number background would go.

I think black looks better, even with the scratches.
