Clutch Help Asap

my clutch lifter arm wont grab the lifter at the right spot, its all messed up. im kinda stuck and after 2 hours of messing with it im clueless on what to do. ive tried everything, what could be causing all of this to happen?

rotate the arm so that the fingers do not protrude into the opening in the clutch cover begin installing the clutch cover once the cover is about 1/2-3/4" from touching the center case then you need to start rotating the clutch acuator arm clockwise while at the same time pushing the clutch cover on the remainder of the way.
