Sprocket size help on Predator 90?

Just threw on a bunch of stuff this week from Hetricks on one of our 2005 Predator 90's , Pipe and clutch kit(front and rear) , 2 inch ext. swingarm , 16 inch rear tires etc.
After jetting it properly and getting everything set, From what I can tell , I am way under-geared now. The thing launches well and pulls very hard but the top speed is off. When comparing to our other bone stock predator they are even for about 5 feet, then the mod machine comes on the pipe and pulls 5-9 lengths in a couple hundred feet, only to be slowly reeled in as soon as speeds approach 30-35 mph (guesstimate).
I am running the stock sprocket(s) and the rear is a 35 tooth stock. I have heard that many people are running a 28 tooth rear.....
Any suggestions?

we are running stock for now. im sure someone who has played with these little suckers more then i have may offer a few combos to try.

what type of riding will be done? trails, mx,xc etc?

Mostly XC races and some flat track maybe in the winter

We are running a 18/30 setup on ours. Gets a great holeshot and still has enough top end to pull away.

You can get the 18th front off a 2001 (not sure of the year) Scrambler 50.

Note: This is on our '03 Pred-90. I heard the '04 (or is it '05 ???) Pred-90s use a different front sprocket shaft. Might want to confirm for your year of Pred-90 before ordering...

We have the 18 on the front ( your right its from a scrambler 50 ). Where did you get the 30 ?. Sounds like you are running all the same stuff we are.

1:Pipe, CDI, Reed cage mod, Air Cleaner,Variator, Clutch, Belt
18-30
2:Same as above, Intake, 24 Carb, Hi comp head
18-28
3:Same as above, Portwork, 190 PSI
19-28
4:Same as above, Portwork, Head work, Piston work, 225 PSI
19-26 @54 mph with radar gun

It really depends on how much horsepower your setup gives you and what are you setting it up to race.

Do you really have to run the 16's on the rear. They will kill the top end.

WE run a highly moded AC 70. It has the Hetrick pipe and Malossi clutch and all the good springs and variator weights plus a 20mm carb,Koso intake and Boysen twin petel reeds, Malossi no rev cdi,ported cylinder.

We run the stock 19 front and have a 30,32, and a 35 rear sprocket. We run XC and on Douglas .125 wheels. The Alum wheels were a huge difference because we lost alot of wheel weight!

He's been practicing on a TT high bank flat track and on a new MX track that our friend built. I feel that a 28 t for the rear is in need. If the track is slick were seeing alot of rear wheel spin and the quad is reving out halfway down the straights. But once it dries out the 30 is great.

Just a sugestion is to buy a few of them and set the mini up for track conditions and terrain.That's just how I do it. But you may see differ! Hope this helped.

We're runnin an 05 whic has a different shaft for the front sprocket (reverse tranny) so from what I have seen i am stuck with the 19. Gonna get a 30 and a 28 and see where we go from there. Thanks for the input.
