hotcams stage 1

i have a 2001 400ex and i am thinking about purchasing a cam. does the hotcam stage 1 make that much of a power increase or should i get a stage 2 because they are the same price. also does a stage 2 require more upgrades so it doesn't hurt your engine. also if hotcams isn't the greatest what other brands are there to choose from. thanks for the help in advance

hotcams are good cams. the nice thing about them is that they are totally drop in!. the stage 1 will tick a little louder than stock cam just to warn you. but its normal
