Ive noticed alot of threads about hybrids mainly about yz426 motors going in 250r chassis's.
Has anyone put a ktm525 motor in a stock 250r chassis?
If so can you give us pics??

Yes, I saw a ktm 525 motor in a 250r frame at the national hillclimb in West Virginia. It won the class beating a yzf 450 that had a 502 stroker motor. The bike was owned by Frank Wilson who also has a sick 250r and a quadzilla and the quadzilla won the open class. The link below is one of the pics. If you scroll before and after you can see more.

thanks, i race mx and dont want to spend the money on a new r and then a heap more on suspension etc. I also wanted an advantage in the open class as i now race 410 banshees and 450's so i thought the ktm would be perfect. I would like to hear from anyone who has done this into a standard frame. thanks

HA, I was also thinking about this, the only thing I see would maybe the motor being to tall? Right? Those motors are torque hogs.

yeah, ive done alot of searching on the net and they all seem to be put in walsh frames or custom lsr frames etc. I want to know if anyone has put the motor into a standard 250r frame? this will keep costs down. the walsh frame looks higher than a 250r frame .

I was wanting to put a thumper DB engine in a stock R frame, but everyone I talked to said that it won't hold up. The frame isn't strong enough to hold the engine.

what about a arens 250r frame? these are made out of 4130 chromoloy?
its the geometry im more concerned about and weather it will fit into the frame.

well its cheaper than selling my 250r for $4000 and then spending another $10,000 on building a race 450! i figure if i can either modify my frame or buy a new frame + motor and spend 4-5 grand im ahead and i have something cool. !

hey guys, just got a response from lonestar and they said they use to make a 250r/ktm520 frame but dont anymore, they can sell me a 250r frame without the motor mounts which they have done for another customer to fit the ktm motor and they say it is a success. So from their answer, the 250r frame can take the motor. anyone else got any input??

I have a friend who has a walsh 250R/KTM Hybrid...I have a small tape of him running here in Florida @ Croom "Motor Cross Park" he is a AA XC Rider....I am uploading it to the server now and will post a link for you guys...its like no other..as for putting it in the R frame we were going to do it on a 86 250R with a YZ426 but it was way to high to fit...so I putt it in a 400ex frame and that worked..and I would never do it again...FYI

thanks paul, good video.
by looking at the walsh frame it looks like he has raised the height of the frame? although lsr says they just use their standard 250r frame so im not sure to trust lsr or not. what do you think paul, do you think the motor would fit, and is the walsh frame a 250r frame made to suit.
thanks again.
p.s have you ridden the ktm quad?

did you see ktm is coming out with a four wheeler? go to ********.com and it will be on the right side of the home page. they will also be putting one of their motors in a polaris chassis anlong with building their own chassis. i think they were saying that the ktm framed model will be for the track.
