Does anyone have any advice on how I can convince my parents to let me get a 300ex. I have no clue. I have asked and--no. I have outgrown my 250. This might sound kindof weird, but please do not turn this into a flamefest.:ermm:

Get a 400ex

id probly tell him that the 250ex is just getting a little to small for ya and your ready to get into a bigger quad. tell him that theres more of an after market industry for them too so it will be a lot easier to mod and maintain. Or if you like to ride with a lot of people tell him that you have a hard time keeping up with them since they all have bigger quads, and that you always have to keep it at almost full throttle and your afraid of blowing the engine. If that dont work, maybe try and sell the 250ex and save up the rest of money by doing some odd jobs that you can find.

Thanks for the reply, yeah, my dad knows that I am pushing that little engine because he can hear it. He's following me while I am trying to keep up with my brother.:( I am actually concerned that I will have to pay to fix the engine because I push it so hard. I think my dad is just holding back because my atv is in nearly perfect condition, and he doesn't want to get ripped off like he did with my brothers.

Where there is a will, there's a way.

First off, it's not about asking, or simply saying something convincing. You have to PROVE you are worthy, generally by working your *** off. And it's going to take longer than a week.

Do you mow the lawn every week?

Rake the leaves?

Do the dishes every night?

Vacuum?

Now, don't BS me and say "Yeah, I do all those things", because you don't. But, if you want your parents to pony up the bucks, then YOU need to pony up with effort of your own.

If you start doing everything around the house, and I mean EVERYTHING, I'd put $20 that says you'd have a new quad in 2 months.

by they way. I wouldnt get a 300. I would get a 400 or something. Because now that your on a 250ex you think that the 300 will do, but after a while youll just out grow it too.

Not to be a bubble buster or anything but getting a 300ex wont make a very big difference if you get it stock or a piped one. Because the 250 and the 300ex are very close in speeds. Now a 300ex is perfect in size wise but power wise you'll still be pushing the engine unless you get a piped jetted and airfiltered 300ex used. A 300ex will be the perfect quad just as long as it has good modifications so it can have a little extra boost and power to keep up and not blow the engine or be topped out as often.:macho

I Gotta go with what everyone else has been saying. I owned a 300ex for about 3 years, and if you are already pushing the limits of a 250ex, then it will only be a month at the most untill you will be pushing the limits of your 300ex. Your dad and brother have 400ex's, so I'm shure you have riden them, and are somewhat used to what they feel like. You can pick up a 400ex with some minor mods for under 3 grand easily.

Well, I made a chart explaining everything I would do and said I would let them decide how long I should do it. I would have to work my but off.:ermm: I think it's worth it though. My mom read it and said it's up to my dad, hes at band practice right now though. All I can do is hope and pray. Pray for me please.;)

also, work your butt off in school (if you do already forget what i said). Maintain really high grades to show that your responsible. Make sure that they see you studying for your tests and doing your home work i bet that will help you get the 300ex. good luck to ya.

I already get A's B's. My dad thinks i'm not ready for a larger machine.  I'm better at riding than him. Also to prove to him, do you think I could sell an extremely nice, pretty much brand new looking '02 250ex for 2100-2200? And then get an '02 300ex for 2300?

ride it into a lake and kill it. Then see what they say lol. This could easily backfire on you though and leave you with a paper weight for a quad lol.

WOW!! I cant believe it, somebody wants to sell a 2001 250ex for 2800! and an '02 for 3200! Maybe I will get a lot of money for mine. Well, anyways, I have a question, which one of these is the best deal?

2002 300ex-2400 obo, new tires, k&n

1999 300ex-2500, new engine, new disks, pads, works shocks, durablue adjustable +2 +4 axle, k&n, New white plastic, DG nerfs, grabbar, skids, DG pipe, and razrs.

Which is a better deal?

Just depends on the condition of the 2 quads. They both sound like a fair price with room to haggle.

If the white one has Works shocks front and back.. that would be the one I'd look at. 300's need aftermarket shocks in a bad way.

I was actually thinking the 2000, the tires look the best and it looks the cleanest. It's also the closest;)

My dad hates it when I beg for something I dont know if your dad is the same or not. But I know most parents cant stand their kids begging all the time.

It took me 3 years of riding dirtbikes to convince my dad I hated riding them even though I turned out to be a sick rider on them. I almost got a brand spanking new 450r, then I messed up in school and that ruined that. so I traded my dirtbike for a POS banshee, worked 7 months built it and now I can say its mine and proud to say I paid for it!

what I'm trying to get at is, if your parent's cant do it. which with the price of living nowadays is I can see why most cant. Ride what you have and get a job later on down the road. Belive me it works. My friend JR3 rode a 250ex for only god knows how long and if you ever saw pictures of him riding, you'd think he was nuts. He was jumping 5-10ft in the air and only god knows how far! If I were you, I'd ride what I had and just wait it out.

You have to respect that your parents cant just go and buy a 4 grand quad out of no where. Your riding right now and you have something to ride, thats more then most kids have.

If your young, mow some lawns, shovel some driveways. I started home school and I work fulltime at a autobody shop.

Ok it sucks i cant find any pics of it i wish i saved em. But regardless who cares what your riding its all about how far you are willing to push yourself. I would out jump and out ride the 450s wen they came out on the 250 just because i wasnt scared and was more talented even on a 250. I rode that thing until i landed 1 time and broke the subframe off and bent the frame. But i had no complaints because i was doing what i loved and that was riding. Heres a pic from a jump i was doin can cans off of with a 250ex i was landing all the way at the bottom of this pic thats my friend in the pic from 2 years ago http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/RRPcr250r/tilt.jpg

I'm not really begging. I am just asking in a smart way. My parents hate when I beg. I can't get a job yet for another few years legaly. There is an age limit in illinois. :( My dad said that we will maybe get a 300, IF I can find one in a dealer. Which I respect, because of how our last experience with a private party went. Ended up needing a complete engine rebuild, but at least we got a 410 out of it:cool: If anyone in northern illinois, central and below wisconsin, north west indiana knows of a dealer with a 300 for sale, pm me please.;)

It shouldnt be hard at all to find a dealer selling 300's. Go to honda.com and search for the closest dealer to you and go and check it out.
