I just suddenly want a 300ex so bad. I really want a clutch and I outgrew the power of the 250 after the first week. Now I just have to convince my dad. What are good prices on a nice 2002ish 300? Anyone that made the switch from a 250 to a 300, was it a good switch. Feel free to post pics.;)

completly stock, the 250ex wont pull the front wheels in 2nd and third gear. it will in first no problem, 2nd it has a little trouble with all power on flat ground, but third you have to give the bars a mighty jerk and have a big bump or be on a hill to get it up.

but on another note, a 250ex to a 300ex isnt that much of an upgrade. yes the 300ex is better, but not by alot. it has more parts you u can buy and a clutch, thats about it. if you want any kind of an upgrade get a 400;)

skip the 300ex, go for a 400. ive seen it to many times... you get stuck paying for the 300 then you'll want something better and take a loss on the 300 to get rid of it... then have another payment for the 400.

I am about 60 miles north of Chicago. The reason I don't want a 400 is that the insurence is like twice as much.:( I would rather pay a lot less for the 300 and then just modify it.

You can buy mine. I know its a 98, but it already has all the modding done to it. Why buy a stock 02 for 2500 when you could buy mine for 3000. It has about 3500- 4000 in aftermaket stuff in it, and is VERY reliable. It's a little faster than a piped 400ex in top end and it has tons of torque. I raced a piped z-400 and he beat me by a little bit. Its worth every penny, and it is in great shape, so you dont have to worry about it being beat. I have all the stock parts, and the title. Theres no crack or welds in the frame, or any bent parts. Heres a pic.

i rode one for 3 years and rode it to death. i know a 250ex up and down. the only way itll pull the wheels in 3rd gear on flat ground is if you do a transmission slam. and if you dont know what that is, its where u hold the gas down and pop it in gear.

hahaha, are you crazy?? lol 300's are way faster than a piped 250ex. there is really no way to add top speed to a 250ex.

You smoke a lot of machines with a 250ex? I don't know what your talking about, I rode one and it had a little get up and go, but not anything worth talking about. I wonder what quads you smoke, because they must REALLY suck at riding.

rofl, Listen. The 250 sucks ***, I have one, I should know. If you upgrade from a 250 to a 300 that is the wrong move. Get a 400 !!!. And, as for the wheelie in 3rd gear. James is right it is hard to get it to pull up. I have a jet kit, air filter, pipe, blah blah and its still pretty tuff.
