would it be poseble to run a 400ex with out a counter balancer. Has any one done it?

Yes, it has been done and they went back the next week to shop to put it back in.

The stock crank on the 400ex weighs almost 10 pounds. Do you realize how much force that thing has spinning thousands of revs per minute? ANY hp increase you would see from not having to turn the counterbalancer would be negated from tremendous vibration. You literally wouldnt be able to hold the bars at high revs.

Get some mods for more power but leave the cb alone.

Has any one lighten one before. and how much is to much to take off the weights.

There are no weights on it to remove. It is a one piece gear with small weighted end. Prolly weighs about 2 pounds and I wouldnt think you could take much off of it. (or want to)

However, you can get the Flywheel lightened for quicker revs. This is bad idea or XC-woods as it makes the bike easier to stall with less inertia.

technically my cb has been ligthened seeing how a bunch of material had to be removed from it in order to clear my rod


aaaahhh yes and my XC bike runs great with a ligthened flywheel:o
