anyone know how to extrude a line positive or negative in the Z axis without redrawing the whole part?

wish i did, i can use solids, autoCAD, surfCAM and artCAM at school...but only have surfcam on my home pc...

then you should transform/copy your 2d geometry to the z level that you want to "extrude", and connect the lines (from the two different z levels) in the front or side view using the "3d" drawing mode.

Do you have 2-1/2D or 3D surfcam? or just 2D?

it doesnt say, its Surfcam 2001...i can draw up a cd part and put it in an iso veiw...i just havent done it in so long, i forgot how to offset the entire part in z...and what you said doesnt ring a bell in my noggin

that's about as far as I can explain it. It's been a few years since I used surfcam (I use mastercamm now), and I don't remember the exact commands, without seeing the screen. Sorry. :(
