I have elka dual rate shocks on my 300ex no rezzie, rec series shocks. My question is the dual rate spring is compressed when just the weight of the bike is on it. Is this normal? I dont think it is because all the shocks I have seen always have the spring extended.

Your talking about the ZPS spring, right? If so it shouldnt compress till you sit on the quad. So it sounds like there not valved or sprung right.

elka ssd springs usually remain compressed with just the weight of the quad

no SSD and ZPS are the same thing, same concept, pappys just saying that the brand name elka ssd/zps springs tend to stay compressed. My buddies peps are the opposite his compress when someone sits on the quad.
