Thats exactly what I thought as I passed the gas station today. I have read that the government is going look into the price gouging which happend after Katrina. Now with Rita coming, the prices are going back up even though nothing has happened yet.

Heard that, my ol man called and told us all to go fill up because rumor was that gas was around 5bux a gallon in Charleston and rising everywhere due to "Rita" coming through. such bs they haven't even got a new load of gasoline but they have the right to raise it another 2.25 cents  I wonder WTF the world is coming to...

yup, ashand oil posted record earning last quarter, wonder why:confused: They raise gas prices any chance tehy get. My boss was talikg about how they rasie them without us really thinking about it. when i started driving, it was around $1.30 a gallon, then it went ot $1.60 and everyone said it sucked so the prices dropped to about $1.50 and it was good. then it went ot $1.80 and it sucked again, but when prices dropped to $1.70 it was all good, next was $2.00 and it sucked, then........ when they raise it it sucks but they drop it 10 to 15 cents and everyone is happier. like now it was up to about $2.99 where i live and now it is down to $2.70 which is still about 25 cents more than before katrina but no one is complaing as much as for $3.00 a gallon

You know why I think they did this? They raised the prices super high, so that when they DO go back down, people won't ***** because they're 1.90 and 2.00. That's why. They were probably under pressure to bring the prices down when they were there, so they used the Katrina opportunity to gouge the hell out of it. Just my .02.

yeh but think about it guys...the value of the dollar back when gas was 89 cents a gallon wasnt nearly close to the value of a dollar nowadays.

Ummmm, it was about 12 years ago... not that much of a difference! Especially going from .89 a gallon to nearly $3.00 a gallon for gas!
