I have about 10 tons of dirt right now to work with. I can get more later, which I probably will. This is going to be my first ramp. I want to get as big air as possible with as little distance as possible, because I really want to start freestyle. I haven't ever been to a track or hit any big jumps before. I was thinking about making a tabletop that way I could start jumping slowly. I'm having second thoughts though, thinking I should be making a take-off and seperate landing ramp. Any thoughts/opinions/suggestions? I'm going to be using my boss's front end loader to work with the dirt. I am thinking a 5-6' tall take-off with a 45* angle? Maybe I should just make a kicker and a landing? Any suggestions on the gap size, or should I stick with the tabletop idea? Thanks guys!

your going to want some jumping experience before you go launching off a kicker. i would say make a tabletop and start jumping on that. then build a rev 1 sort of ramp. go around 8' tall, 20-22ft long, 45 degree angle and you should be set. get some plans off the net. make a 10' tall landing and start the gap at 10-15ft to get used to it. if you build a smaller ramp to begin with you will be wasting money.. sooner or later you'd want a full size one.

45* is way too much. 38* is perfect from what Ive heard. JG told my friend the ramp specs cause Im planning on building one myself. I have it drawn up in CAD if you want a look.

Alright thanks. I deffinetly need more dirt. I thought I had alot but I used all of it in the ramp. It's about 5' tall, one side has a sorta steep angle and the other side is pretty gradual. I need to re-groom the lip/face and give it a few days/rain to settle. I hit it a few times, changed it a little, then hit it some more. It deffinetly shoots me up in the air and doesn't send me too far. I was flat landing:eek2: I wasn't hitting it any harder than 2nd gear about 3/4 throttle. I think next week I can get some more dirt for a landing and step it up a notch. It was kinda funny, when I was testing the jump out, one of my buddies showed up with his xr80 and tried the jump. It was a sight to see, that little thing getting air:p

Alright I think almost all the work is done(although work is never done on a ramp right?) It works pretty well. I want to make the take off a little steeper and the landing farther back. It is my first ramp to build so I had to start small. I will be happy with it for a while. Enjoy the pics!

The ramp all done(at least for today)

The tractor I used. I borrowed it from work, it's a Cub Cadet 30hp. Worked perfectly for me.

Doing no-handers. Sorry for the crappy quality, they are snapshots from a video.

I feel way more comfortable in the air, and the quad doesn't keep smacking me in the @$$ when I take off. I was doing tiny no footers, just basically lifting my feet a few inches off the pegs. I had a couple close calls with my foot barely making it back to the peg....so I am trying to find some pro armor nerfs w/heel guards. Soon as I pick up some nerfs I will feel better about taking my feet off the pegs.:)
