4/1 or 3/2?

Plan to get the ITP T-9 Baja wheels.

I know the factory width is 5.5" so these wheels are already losing 1/2".

Anyone know which is closest to factory?

stock offset is 3+2
2+3 will make you wider
4+1 will make you narrower

stock offset can't be 3+2 since it is a 5.5" wide rim.

Sounds like 3/2 would be closer then but losing 1/2" of rim width. I wonder if that is evenly split or all on one side.

the stock offset is 4+1.5

Thanks Spud!

To be even then on a 5" rim, it seems you would need 3.75+1.25 so you lose 1/4" on each side.

4+1 means you lose .5" of rim sticking out on each side thus narrowing the quad by 1".

3+2 mean you would gain .5" of rim sticking out each side thus increasing the quad width by 1".

So what is the better solution?

If these rims are used on so many quads (400ex, 300ex, z400, etc.), wonder why the aftermarket doesn't match factory sizing.

i find it very very hard to believe that stock 400ex offset is 4+1.5.I know imn new at this but I dont think that is right

The rim is definitely 5.5" wide so it has to be some factor that adds up to 5.5".

I've measured it and that seems to be accurate. I do know that the factory rims easily clear and protect the brake caliper whereas a 3+2 just comes to the edge of the brake caliper. In fact, the inner ring on a Baja rim barely clears the brake caliper.

I knew it was an odd size. Just didn't know exactly what it was.
