no muffler

ok heres the deal i have a borla 2.25 muffler on my 3.0 ranger. its dumped and its not loud enuff. is there anyway to make a megaphone or buy some kind of tail pipe to make it louder. also if i ran no muffler would it hurt anything like mileage or burnt valves. i know it has no bottom end power with that but i just want it loud sometimes

lots of people run without a muffler, so you'd prolly be fine

do an exhaust cutout or whatever they are called. straight piped when you want it loud, regular exhaust when you want it legal.

I like electric cut outs, they are expensive, but are very cool because you can change your sound by a flick of the switch. And if Officer Friendly pulls up behind you, you can flick it back to make it quiet.

Don't take the cat off just take the pipe off after the cat and take a crow bat and pound the guts out of the cat start it up let it all blow out then bolt the exhause back up. If you have a newer car or truck with 2 o2 sensors this may cause the check engine light to come on.

to get it loud and still have it sounding nice throw some headers on it, if you cant aford then then i would suggest you get some mufflers called "purple hornies" i beleive summit has them the are pretty cheap too.

the law says nothing about having to have a muffler (in nc anyway), hack that thing off and rock out. OR take the one you have on there off...cut a hole in the top of it, take out all the baffleing weld it back up and ride that. i know a lot of people around here that do that

If loud is all you're looking for, neck it down to 2" or 1.75 and run it straight, that will give you some of your bottom end back and be loud. The 3.0 are very unique with the sound. Brother has a flowmaster 40 series on his and it's different, that's the best way to describe it. A mix of street racer wanna be and the flowmaster sound.

I hope you know that it wont sound. Its not like cutting off a V8 muffler, where its throaty. I see a lot of rangers with no mufflers, and they sound terrible.

i cut the pipe off my old 94 ranger sounded alright but too much drone, my 97 with no muffler sounds like a camaro. the thing is i like the sound of the borla sometimes cuz somedays its loud and sometimes not. the thing is i want to keep it cuz it cost me 100 bucks. i just need to find a way to make it louder. headers too much, cut out too much and pain to install. can any1 think of a way to make a tail pipe shape into a megaphone?

dont run without a muffler, like every other type of vehicle you would loose back pressure giving you less hp. also it tends to run hotter, causing the burnt valves. get a flowmaster 40 series muffler. that should help
