the chevy 6.5 diesels (94-98) get about 25 empty. older 6.2 (81-93) should get about 30 no matter how you drive. (unloaded that is) gutless as hell but good mileage.

well damn! thats better than what my little ranger gets, i checked it the other day and im getting about 20.

does anyone know where any are for sale within a few hrs of greensboro, NC ive looked on autotrader.com all in the papers and such and ive found a few i like but the best deals are never listed. so if anyone knows where something is, let me know. im not looking to spend much more than about 12000 though, im not brand picky but if its a dodge it HAS to be a 5 or 6 speed. id really like to have a 4x4 also. thanks

Bud you are on crack.......... I've never heard of 6.5 going 25 and no way in hell a 6.2 would ever get 30 lucky to get 20........ most older diesels will got about 18-20............ 6.5 is one of the worst diesels out there and no the 6.2 isn't any better..........

Ford 6.9 or dodge cummins were the best ones around back in the day..........

I got a 2000 F-250 powerstroke..... 19 highway 14in town and anywhere from 10-14 pulling..........

The company's stake truck 1997 7.3 turbo diesel pulls 11mpg with the new K&N. Not bad for 319,000 that had gas run through it twice.

Our 1997 powerstroke sees 18-20 with all terrains, 22-24 with a road tire. 9 with the 12ft pickup camper and 14 with the 28ft travel trailer.

Uncle's dually powerstroke sees 16-17 (shorter gears and it's a dually). Pulling a travel trailer similar to ours he sees 15-16. (Air ramp really helps)

Uncle's father in law sees 23-25 with mud tires (chip and reworked turbo)

Grandpa's Dually powerstroke sees 15-16 on highway, and 13 pulling 38ft 5th wheel, (he likes the turbo:devil: )

To put it all in perspective, Grandpa's 1 ton with the 460 gets 8 unloaded and 9 pulling the 38 footer.:huh

Have ya checked in stokesdale at Bills truck sales??
He usually keeps several Fords on the lot..Also I got a buddy selling about a 97 f-250 or 350 (not sure which).Clean truck.
For that price range around here you should be able to find a decent 95-97 regular cab 4x4 ford.Coming from 68 , ride up 158 towards reidsville from stokesdale and go about 7 or 8 miles past parkers restaraunt, past hwy 220 ,just past Hudson road-1/4 mile, look on the left side of the road and you should see his white f-350 ,it has a for sale sign on it.PM me if you want his phone# I'll get it .Dodges should be fairly easy to find in that price range also.
