My 2004 400ex motor has a whine that sounds like a supercharger running....any thoughts on what it may be?

The whine is more noticable on the oil filter side

these bikes have that whine. i believe it is the oil pump but i could be wrong. mine did it the most after i first started it and drove it for the first 5 minutes or so.

Yep,they all sound like that.Especially when they are new.

My 460 did that! Turns out the shop left a washer/shim of clutch pack around basket and alingment was off. Verify yours with shop manual. Their are several and they have diff. thicknesses.

My 460 sounded like a gear drive on a drag car:p
