assuming your on a 400ex, should be stamped on the rail behind the front bumper. The one that runs between the top mounting points for the front bumper

there should be a vin number under the front sprocket on the motor.

The under the sprocket one I think is the engine vin/serial#

I got the numbers decoded...02 model SC plant and USA made.
