400ex vs. banshee

Ok,here it is,I have 06 400ex and I want to be able to beat my buddies 03 banshee.Right now my 400 is plan stock,my buddy has a toomey T-5 pipe,polished heads,cool heads,single carb and a K&N filter.Other than a pipe what do ya guys think I should put on my quad??

I think you better give up on the thought of outrunning him in the drags and buy some shocks so you can outrun him on the trails.

lol....ya.....after our last ride at elson street in southern Ohio,I kinda lost my hopes after watchin my buddy on his banshee beat modified YFZ 450's in drags one after another,it was just a stab in the dark that with some engine work I might have a chance

I ran a atc 250R until last fall and loved drag racing. Buying a 400ex ended that. Even with the mods I've done this summer its still slow. Handling is great in trails. I'm still runninf stock shocks so I can't give any good advice.

Mods made a huge difference but still won't run with a yfz on the drags. I can run with anything on the trails though. Nothing better then leaving my budies on raptors so far behind that we have to stop and wiat for them.:D

Were did ya get your cam from and how do ya like that white bros. pipe??

It had the pipe on it when I got it, so I have nothign to compare it with.

I bought the cam on ebay from sledpartsguy he is first class all the way. I have bought many parts from him shipping is always superfast and perfect items.

So all the people who have already done it are wrong and there machine isn't running? Mine isn't much above stock, wiseco piston at 10:1. I'm sure open airbox is damn close to the velocity intake. I wanted the 10:1 pisotn so I could run plain old pump gas and didn't want the hassle of blowing head gaskets.

I've had mine on the dyno at little sahara and it made 34.8 hp. Thats nearly a 30% improvement over stock. Find a way to get that much hp increase a cheaper way.

i can outrun alot of banshees especially if they are stok but, mine is a 13:1 426 on alcohol 41mm fcr sparks drag pipe and lightened as much as possible.

can some one tell me what this velocity intake is. i have been looking for a better way of getting more air in w/o taking the airbox lid off. any other suggestions?

your going to need quite a motor to beat banshees, stock banshees arent fast really, you modd them they turn into death wishes :devil:

His banshee will give you a run for your money. Mine out runs most of the 450rs around here

Well, I have the hotcam stage 2 in mine. I have had it for 2 years and never had a problem with it. As far as outrunning banshees, I can out run stock ones. But how often do you see stock banshees. Modified ones are a different story.

look at the mods urs has compared to the kid, you cannot put a stage 2 cam without a pipe, airfilter etc

Well, I definatly don't recommend putting in a stage 2 cam without some mods. But, you are making it sound like it is impossible to do.

u can put it in thare it just wont be as fast.

me vs a banshee with pipes and a bunch of cooling *****, he pulls on me 1 quad length every gear. but when I reach wfo I loose big time (aprox 60-65mph is when I start to suck arse)

me vs a 450r with a filter = me verry happy.... till wfo. then I loose by like 1 mph because he gains on me by just the tinyest bit. ( I have it to the rev limiter) I seem to have the moast pull from him when I get into end of 2nd and into 3rd.. he says he looses because he cant hear ***** over my pipe. but excuses, I have draged him about 20 times with all simular results.
