Union Bridge, MD - Just one month ago today, the Akraix crew left on an incredible journey around Country filming for their premiere movie set to be released this November. Their Journey took them north to Washington then south to Texas, and then back to their original stomping grounds of Minnesota before heading even further east to Maryland to Travis Pastrana’s house and ofcourse, Harlen Foley’s compound less than a hour up the road before over to Andy Lagzdins XC practice track also in Maryland.

Today, they headed north to Rausch Creek MX Track in Tremont, PA to check out this awesome riding area for themselves, and the Rausch Creek Staff greeted them with open arms building them a landing for their Freestyle ramp, which set the stage for an incredible sunset filming session, and they were so impressed with the location that they are sticky around for one more day of filming at Rausch Creek before heading to Western PA to visit with Mike Jones before the long trip home to California to start the editing process for an incredible film.

I will kick off their journey with their freestyle show in Minnesota on September 11th where the Akraix crew broke out some serious tricks for a huge crowd.

Caleb Moore had his Honda 450R back together and made the long trip north from Texas to show that Texans have no problem going BIG!!!

Derek Guetter also didn’t disappoint by busting out some serious moves in front of his Homestate crowd

ATVs weren't the only machines going big as the Snowmobiles were also launching side by side with the Akraix crew.

One week later, the Akraix crew arrived in Maryland to conquer Travis Pastrans's Foam Pit with Freestyle legend "Mad" Mike Jones.

Garret Englestad wasted no time busting out the Backflip into the foam pit.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:09 PM
Another View of Garret Engelstad launching into the Pit.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:12 PM
Mike Jones couldn't resist the temptation of watching the Akraix crew launching into the foam pit, so he jumped on Derek's YFZ450 and stuck his first attempt at the backflip on a quad, which was insane.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:15 PM
Derek Guetter wasn't going to be upstaged by Mike's on his Quad, so he hopped on Mike's KX and also flipped it as well.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:16 PM
Derek Guetter has no plans on making a switch over to bikes, so he was back on his YFZ450 doing what he loves to do

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:18 PM
Got Foam, lol

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:20 PM
Josh Normington also decided to give the Backflip a try for himself, but his take off was too vertical and he only made it upside down for the landing, which luckily for him was in the foam.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:20 PM
Josh waits to get hoisted out of the foam.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:22 PM
After reaching cruising altitude it was time to leave the ramps behind for a few days and head for the woods for some XC action.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:28 PM
Dan Guetter and I met up over the weekend and started planning for some XC riding, so we headed back to my house and hit my MX track buried in the woods and my miles of trails through the trees, but unfortunately I left the camera at the house, but I didn't forget it when we heading over to Pro GNCC Racer #14 Andy Lagzdin's practice area.

We all were geared up and ready for some serious woods riding.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:32 PM
Andy didn’t waste anytime showing the Akraix crew some nasty hillclimbs full of rocks with a climb to a hilltop that you could easily see for atleast 15 miles in every direction.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:35 PM
If this climb wasn't sick enough, he showed us one of his hill climbs that he normally only makes it up 50% of the time, and he was going to give it a try.

This photo doesn't give the hill justice because it was and easily over 100 foot climb with the last 20 feet practically vertical.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:36 PM
The Akraix crew waited at the top to try to check his Honda if he didn't make it with Garret Engelstad in the background. Andy stayed hard on the gas with dirt flying his made roosted his way to the top.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:37 PM
Just missing the large oak tree at the top by inches, Andy Lagzdins makes it to the top

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:48 PM
After making it the first time, Andy Lagzdin's made two more attempts at this wicked hill, and decided it was time to quit while he was ahead.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:50 PM
Next Andy, showed up a cool rock jump through the trees, and to make things a little more interesting he blind folded himself with a limb full of leaves while launching off the face.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:51 PM
Another view of the leap through the trees.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:53 PM
It was time for another Hill Climb, and this one I felt was within the capabilities of my Stock Suzuki to make it to the top with the camera man Josh climbing into a tree to capture the action.

Admin
09-20-2005, 08:55 PM
After so techinal woods riding, it was time for some high speed woods action as Andy and I ripped through the trees creating a huge cloud of dust behind us.

Pro Rider Andy Lagzdins lead the way, while I ate his roost on the Suzuki trying to keep him in check.

This wraps up my segment of the "On the Road" tour, and Kenny will take over from here with the coverage from Rausch Creek Today, and if you couldn't make it to Rausch Creek today, Akraix will be there for one more day.

I went to Rausch Creek today, if anyone has the chance to go tomorrow do it! I wish I could go up again my self.

Looks awesome . Will sleds be in this new video ?? I'm still waiting for these guys to show up in Canada . :ermm:

Pappy

All I can say is......AWESOME!

I have been wanting to get these guys on film since forever and today it all seemd to work out!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:14 PM
Not only did the day get spent hanging out with the Guetter boys, and some atvrider.com members, I also had the pleasure of meeting Tom Fink. The pictures can say more then I can type about his skill!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:18 PM
AKRAIX asked my son Cody to attend todays shoot so they could include a mini quad rider in the upcoming DVD. He took his new 90 out and once the youth track was worked over, he turned his attention to the intermediate track:eek:

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:22 PM
We had picked out a section that offered 2 tables and a nice big berm for him to ride on. He was clearing both tables and was flyin!

On his 11th attempt he took a bad bounce and got pitched!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:24 PM
he got up, and let me know he was ok. He complained of his hand and wrist hurting but pressed on.

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:27 PM
In pain, he did not stop. When it was time to film, he rode as hard as he could!

7 hours later we pulled into the emergency room to be safe, and he had indeed fractured some bones in his hand and wrist. He is doing fine, has a cool cast and everything:p

Here Dan films as Cody rides on

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:29 PM
It was an awesome sight seeing these guys do thier thing.

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:32 PM
Luckily for me and the film crews, there was a huge mound of dirt right next to the ramp!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:35 PM
Tom Fink said..."I can do that"

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:37 PM
The weather was scary to me as a photographer. The pale clouds offered no contrast to the rider. Even with a washed out sky for the warm up portion of this shoot, I was happy to click away!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:38 PM
Fink was having a blast riding for pure fun!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:39 PM
Im sure you can ask anyone that saw me, I had a smile so big that it will take a week for it to go away!

Pappy

I geuss the riders sensed it was time to get busy!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:44 PM
The tricks just kept getting bigger, and so did the crowd of people watching the show!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:45 PM
The biggest problem I had was learning each riders timing. Once I got it down, things started getting real fun

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:47 PM
I dont remember what he called this trick, it was some form of modified superman. I do know that 3 girls watching blushed when he did it tho:eek:

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:49 PM
The owner of 528 Clothing Company went way out of his way to help these guys today. When a riders bike went down, he ran home and brought back his 450R for him to ride!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 10:51 PM
I was in awe watching these tricks thru my lens, I cant wait to see the video!

The nerve it must take!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:08 PM
They actually wanted to move the ramp back, but the riders were having such a good time they never got around to it:p

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:09 PM
yep, I let them jump right over me:D

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:11 PM
I was all over the place, I couldnt get enough angles on these guys!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:12 PM
I am pretty sure in Utah that trick is illegal:devil:

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:13 PM

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:23 PM
And I am pretty sure you have to be a touch "not normal" do this stuff:D

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:24 PM
Id close my eyes too:scary:

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:25 PM
I cant wait to do it all over again!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:28 PM
How they manage to do all this is beyond me.

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:32 PM
Before I knew it, the sun was setting as I grabbed a few shots to draw the day to a close.

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:35 PM
Listening to the stories of all the places these guys have traveled getting fotage for thier upcoming video is nuts! This should be a real sweet deal for everyone that enjoys freestyle and riding in general!

Pappy
09-20-2005, 11:41 PM

I cannot beleive how far quad riding has come in the past few years. Take one look at these pics and I'm sure anyone will will agree that quads are definitly on the same level as bikes now, and soon quads will more than likely move higher than dirtbikes. Even mike Metzger said it himself..."We've done pretty much everything we can do". I do see quads maxing out in skill and just plain balls out freestyle, but its going to take a whole lot longer for that to happen. This is only the beginning. Thanks Harlen and Pappy for some unbelievable coverage and pics. I dont know which to have as my wall paper first!

It sure was great meeting all you guys up there! i had a blast! Thanks for bringing us all the great pics pappy, its definatly not easy to catch a perfect picture of freestyle since we move soo fast up there, but you definatly know how (ive tried and it seems impossible). I would also like to thank the rausch creek staff for building us that monster landing ramp! AND i wanna give another huge thanks to Jon from 528 CLOTHING for letting me borrow his quad that he had to drive an hour and a half away to pick up! I know i would sure be nervous while someone was launching my quad 60 feet through the air. i prolly wouldnt have gotten to ride (and learn a few new tricks ;) ) w/o it. definatly want to go back up to Penn again soon sometime :chinese: thanks, steve

I will be up in New York this week, so can I pick it up on the way:D I hear it is rocky, and I don't want to scratch up my Suzuki, lol.

It was awesome that you took the time to get your Honda for Steve, and I almost have all the photos that I need for the review besides a few that I will get next week if everything goes as planned.

No problem Harlan, come on by and get it, lol!! I'm not sure how well it will work on a XC track though. You probably wouldn't get too far.

I was more than happy to donate my quad for the benefit of our sport. It needed a good workout anyway!!! Can't wait to see the review.

I think the Akiax freestyle guys are great. It was really fun getting filmed for the movie and hanging out with all the big freestylers. I think it is really great they are doing this and I hope the movie is a success.

I thought the freestyle was great and alot of variety. It is much better in person then on tv. I want to thank Dan Guetter for including me in the film.
