Best 400ex performance mods for under $60

Hey guys

My dad and I went out and bought a K&N air filter ($53) then we drilled 6 holes about 1 1/2 an inchs across on the airbox lid and put rubber grommets around each hole ($5) then put screen under each hole($1). Then we tightened the throttle cable which took the slack out of it and got a little more power goin on. :devil The difference was immediate and amazing it made a throatery sound, quicker throttle reaction and great low to mid-range power increases.







Yellow 400ex DG nerfs, DG A-arm and swingarm skidplates, PRM baja bumper, K&N filter and a modified airbox.

Make sure your throttle cable is opening up the carb all the way they are set at about 85 % from the factory

If you didn't jet you should notice another huge differance in power to really take advantage of all of that and that should be cheap considering you will only have to buy a few pilots I think because the 400ex runs a little lean stock and now it is probably running even leaner. Another free mod to do is if you ever have to take off your header there is some welds you can grind out and get a noticable power increase and then somone on this side modified the stock silencer to make a lot more power. here is the link on how to do that http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/exhaust/index.htm

you could get a timing advance key from sparks racing for 15 bux , they give you a flywheel puller too. sparksracing.com
