i bought a 1981 yamaha YZ465 the other day.i haven't driven it yet, but im thinking that it will be a ballsy little bike. 465 2-stroke!!!:D i've never heard of the bike, but i've found info all over the internet about it. anyway, the bike will start, but will flood itself out. i'm assuming that the float is sticking, so i cleaned out the carb. i haven't put it back on yet. does anyone know anything about these bikes and what else i can try to keep it running?

You may need to adjust the float level as well. I have seen them before. Yamaha also made a yz490 and those were extremely fast. Your bike should be animal as well so make sure you have a good back tire. Good luck!

i think i got it figured out. me and and a few other guys were working on it earlier. we got it running, but it would still flood out. we adjusted the air\fuel ratio, which helped. i'm going to the dealer tomorrow to get a rebuild kit for the carb. hopefully that will do the trick
