I use simple green, mothers on my polished parts, wax and fine cut cleaner on my frame and wd40 on anything else.

I use simple green as well. WD-40 is pretty corrosive to plastics. It dulls the shine on them. Great everywhere else though! :)

Basic Hand soap and a giant sponge with Hose water.....scrubbin gets it done

1.) I've heard that using wd-40 on o-ring chains is bad, and that you should use chain lube on them. As far as i know, i have a stock chain....are stock chains o-ring or not? Because ive been using pj1 chain lube, and my chain gets all gunked up and dirty because of it, and the links will hardly move and the chain makes loud clankin noises while my 400's movin, but i used wd-40 the other day, and it got all that grease and gunk and stuff out, and the chain moved alot smoother, and made almost no noise.

2.) Also, i have a parking brake block off so their should be no brake drag, yet when i lift my rear tires off the ground in nuetral and spin them, it seems like they are catching on somethin, and they slow down really fast. Im guessing its the chain because it makes loud clankin noises and the links are real hard to pivot/or move.

anyone know (1) or (2)?

simple green to get the nasty stuff off then i use mothers car wax and go over the whole frame, i also use blue magic on polished parts too, that stuff works pretty good.

Simple Green on everything to clean it all off.

Then I use this Car Spray Shiner stuff on plastics

Then I use a Tire Shiner on plastics and tires

then coat the frame, a arms, shocks, chain, swingarm, motor, linkage, steering stem, steering stabilzer, and basicly anything except the plastics with wd40.

BTW, 400exrules, wd40 will be fine on your chain. I believe what you heard about the o-ring chains is just a myth. I believe I also have a stock chain and I have never had any problems coating it with wd40. I usually coat it with wd40 to clean it then spray white lithium grease or maxima chain lube over that. I don't think you can ever lube a chain too much. Mine is in perfect shape though.

Also, 400exrules, for your chain problem, if you don't have the money to buy a new one or if you have the paintence, take your chain off and let it soak in kerosene for a few days. My chain never moved easier after I did that. Clean everything off.

I suppose you could also use a tooth brush and some kerosene and it would work almost as good.

i have tried alot of different chain lubes and wd-40 works the best. to clean the quad, soap and water. invest in a power washer, in the long run you will save vs going to the car wash. just becareful where you spray(airbox/exaust) so you wont wash off the stickers with hot water.

simple green. I use it because its a strong cleaner that is bidodegradable and a non solvent so its a lot less harsh on ur bushings etc.

After a wash, wipe down plastics with STP son of a gun. Makes it look new and sparkly.

Super Clean works much better than Simple Green. finding it might be tough though. the local wallyworld finally got a stock in. you can find it in the automotive isle if you local store carries it..

correct, super clean is a higher stregth cleaner, but it will also tarnish polished aluminum and can harm powdercoated and painted surfaces (stock paint it wont hurt)

ive had so many people complain that thier new rims were discolored, nerf bars and exhausts from super clean and purple power, also white lightening. its fine to clean your quad, but if you have spent time polishing it, stick to simple green!

when you use the wd40 try not to spray it on your top end, especially on your 250ex (you are the one with a 250ex and a 450r right?) if it gets on there fine dust will stick to it and then youll practically have to put it in an acid bath to get it off

Yep, that's me. I appreciate the advice. By the top end, I am assuming you mean the cylinder and head, right?

Ummmm, I dont. I choose to use better stuff...

AeroKroil for me. Nothing beats it.

And for making my quad shine, Formula 2001 works great on the plastic. Much better than WD-40 IMO.

pressure wash then coat entire bike in wd-40
wait about an hour then wipe off
and whoever said not to put wd-40 on your fenders because it dulls them......i think you are wrong b/c my fenders look like crap normally but add some wd and they look close to new again

Aerokroil is the best penetrating fluid made. I work on industrial turbines that run at 1935 degrees and this stuff is magic for getting frozen nuts and bolts loose. I buy this stuff by the case. Anyway, WD-40 is more of a water dispersant and works well for that.

I only use Simple Green because its non-toxic and won't cause harm to anything.

I guess you are. Wd-40 rocks man!

I use brake cleaner on my plastics sometimes also.

first i'll spray it down to get all the thick mud off of it, then soap and water..... works like a charm

then when im done, i use some kinda turtle wax spray (works good on plastic and fiberglass), and it looks brand new when im through:p , sadly only to get dirty the next day:o

i use purple power, but nothign on my quad is considered to be 'bling' material, i just don't keep it in contact with aluminum for more than a few seconds

I use Wisk - just hose the bike down then take a 50/50 mix of Wisk and water in a spray bottle and cover the whole bike. Wate awhile and spray off! For really bad spots really and use a brush!

I use WD40 on my chain to clean it !!

for the last 2 yrs ive used ramwash, the only way i found out about it is we moved in to the bottom of their building at work. its non acidic, enviromental friendly, non toxic, you could actually drink it and cleans better then simple green. i usually buy it by the gallon and mix it with water in the spray bottle. i wet the quad then spray it on and let it sit while im setting up the pressure washer and then spray it off. tires turn back fresh black and cleans everything without scrubbing.

i also use it on my riding gear and anything else int he washing machine at home that really needs cleaned. they offer tons of floor dry and hands washer. i know it sounds like an advertisement but its not, its just that good. :D

i buy the gallon cans of wd-40 from jiffy lube for like 10 bux i think and jus put it in a old spray bottle.....works great and is cheaper than getting it in aerosol cans.
