People may what to think twice about getting a new trx450r with a kick start!!!
I was just reminded about my friends CFR450r how hard it is to get started with the kicker! Most of the times he has to kick it fore ever to get it started! He could not bleave that my trx would start on the fist kick every time!
So if the new trx motors are like the CFR that is the main reason that Honda put the electric start on it!!!!!!!

Im all for the kick start if its works but the CFR450r kick start don’t work any thing like the old trx !!!!!

but we will have to see!!!! who knows!!!

Its much easier to put your leg into kicking a quad then it is a bike, No ballancing required:devil:

Im getting a kicker regardless:ermm:

Crf's are usually difficult to start only when you need to adjust your valves. I had an 02' for over a year and never had problems with it firing unless the valves were out of spec. Kickers are fine.....just make sure you keep up with your maintnance.

the 12:1 compression will change their minds. i can really hear my 06 pumping when its trying the start cold.

The compression ratio won't make a difference since it has a decompression contraption. I've had a few different compression ratios and they all kick the same. I bet the electric start is nice though. It would be nice to have both. I wouldn't mind the extra weight, just wouldn't want to have the same elecrtic start issues my old 400EX had.

i find it kind of hard to believe you have an 06 already when they were released 2 weeks ago and i was just at my dealers last wednesday and he said dealers wont start getting them in til october-november....

and another thing...the motor has an auto decompression release...it could be 13.5:1 and still start like a stock motor from what ive been told....

I would still want kick start. I hate the electric start on my 400. the batery is brand new and it has a really hard time turning that motor over.

AMEN!!! Never had an electrical issue with my 04.... If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!! I'm waiting for a kick start when I could probably have an e-start in less than half the time!!!

Just my .02, but I have had my 04' for 3 days and it starts really easy. I had some trouble before I got the hot start button figured out, but not bad at all now.:D

mine kicks the same with a 13.75:1 piston as it did with the stock 10.5.

if there was going to be a problem with the 06 450r it would be the estart version....and if you put a higher comp. piston then it i dont think the starter would turn it over that eazy....when you kick a bike your turning the motor over faster then what the e-start does

dont get me wrong i like kick statrers my last 3 quads all had kicks!

but my 2 friends CFR's are a pain to start!!! and there valves are adjusted right - i have chacked them and after the shop check them- even tryed new plugs! and it still dont like to start unless u kick the shlt out of them!!!!

Im saying that its not harder to kick over! Im saying u have to kick many times to get started !!!

I like the simple fact of not having to charge my battery if I want to go ride. put the key in, thumb the throttle a couple times and kick it once...it fires like a champ...My wife starts it just fine (well after some coaching) and she's 115#. Less electronics = less problems. More electrical connections more corrosion. in my eyes its a quad not a cadillac.

looks like im going to be right - after reading about all the E start problems!!

that is why honda made the 04-05 trx not like the CFR! but the people wanted it and they got it !

im not trying to make people mad I never started a 06! I just know 2 people with CFR's!!

O6 sucks to start stock, Ill give ya that, but rejet and they start better.

The 06 KiCKER will not be hard to start!

Maybe your friends who have these CRF's are not jetted properly?

That's what I was thinking. I have a couple of friends with hybrids and they start just as easy as my 04 TRX with a 13.5-1.

Enough arguing about which is better. Get what you want. I'll carry my jumper box to the track for you guys with the e-starts.:D

They must be jetted wrong. Or even the decomp lash is wrong. My Crf was no problem to start when setup correctly.

the plug in the crf's needs to be changed out a couple times a year depending on how much you ride

i have had the same issue on my 04 450R, when the plug gets a little old, your gonna be kicking

MY CRF 03 started like a champ. 1 or second kick every time and I,m in canada (just need to know how to do it.) (unless the valves were bad then it would never start):)

i dont understand why everyone is having such a hard time with the o6 electic start....I have had mine for 1 month now and have not had 1 single problem with starting it even when its freezing cold...pull that choke and dont touch the gas until it is running..when the chocke is off DONT TOUCH THE GAS WHILE STARTING..you should not have ne problems staring if you do this..

Do you race?

If not than it wont be a problem. I race and with a Dead engine start every few seconds it takes to start, leads to many feet behind in the holeshot.

Dont get me wrong mine starts fine, just starts slower than say a YFZ,Z400 etc....
