Worked on adding all the mods to the new stock Predator we got last week. It went from mild to wild in short order!

Added a pipe, reeds and new intake, new carb and cdi along with some better tires and rims. It now will shred the yard! LMAO!

right now we are just testing the waters. dependability still is #1 in our type of racing. i think a few riders have the set up good enough for me to trust that cody can be there at the end of the race. we will still run the honda depending on track conditions.

all i can say is she rips. cody tore up more yard in 30 seconds then he had in the past month:p tomarrow after we do a few shake down runs, we may head to the track for some more seat time, and race on sunday if all goes well

we ended up going down to a 115 main and up all the way on the neddle to get some much needed bottom end snap.

the stock gearing didnt do bad, and we installed the smaller rear sprocket that was supplied. we will end up going 2 teeth over stock in the end i think, it needs jus a bit more speed and she will be right!

we werent to impressed in stock form. for my 7 year old it was perfect, but for cody it got real boring real fast.

the modifacations we added woke it right up. he still has to get used to riding a 2 stroke, and the handling of the predator is different then his honda. we will instal elka suspension and see if it calms down the tendency to 2 wheel.

2 or 4 wheels on the ground, doesnt matter, WFO:D

Cody deffinatley knows how to handle a quad. :macho

Pappy, just a little trick, you can change the top shock mounts as to what hole they are bolted into, that may get you the results for handling as far as the front suspension is concerned.

i was wondering why there were 2 holes.

no we have developed a problem with the clutch i think. we made up a different intake tube to prevent water etc from getting in. when we went out to test it, 1/4 way around the track it bogged down and shut off. it did it several more times and at first i thought it was either debris in a jet or even the rear brakes locked up. it was neither.

in neutral it will run smooth and rev to the stars and not shut off. in gear it will run ok but then the bog hits and it dies out almost like the rear brakes if you tried to stall a regular quad. im pretty sure it is in the clutch, but no idea as of yet:(

My son is only 16 months old and he runs around an a little electric quad (he is bored of it now). He is to small for anything else, but come next spring I am going to be looking for a gas quad.

Any advice on which quad?
Any advice on helping him to learn how to ride?

Thanks

the smallest one thats worth considering is the KFX50. it isnt much faster stock then the battery power quads.

as far as the riding, just work with them. concentrate on the basics. make it fun etc. cody learned to ride in a backyard the size of 1/2 of a basketball court on his lt80 and xr50/70. it wasnt until we moved to our new home with land that he started really taking off. he doesnt ride unless im out there with him, i sometimes dont say a word and just watch, then over the course of the next few days we chat about riding etc. i love watching the kids ride....anyones kid! there is so many parents that dont do jack with thier children and this is the perfect way to spend time with them.

it was completely disassembled after the last GNCC. the frame had cracked near the stem bushing and a bolt fell out of the bottom of the frame/engine that allowed the engine to move breaking the rest of the engine mounts.

it will be repaired and repowdercoated and ready for the next race.
