Yes it has been released, but I know dealers here won't be getting them in for another couple weeked.

I wonder how much of a difference it will make with the front end changed, it'll be a lot nicer being that the rider position is lowered (I felt it was too tall). And is the engine more like the dirtbike now? They mentioned that in the video, and I noticed the compression ratio is high.

Yup, but no one knows what those changes are actually going to feel like until someone rides one.

I guess we can ask John Natalie. :)

one of my friends works at the honda shop I am pretty sure he said the new 450r would have a higher compression piston e-start and it is supposed to have a lower center of gravity wich means they probably made changes to the shocks I hope they changed the handling

In my opinion they are going to match if not beat the YFZ's. Yamaha has had there share of being "The Best" Its Hondas turn and I believe they have done it.

Watch the video on the Honda site and they talk about how the engine is more like the dirtbike engine now. They also mentioned that they redesigned the front-end geometry and shocks, with the rider position on the seat being lower. So it sounds like it's better handling with a lower center of gravity.

Im pretty sure you are correct. I wonder if it makes a big diffrence? I want to give the new 06's a try:)

I wonder what parts can be swapped onto an 04/05 model. The '06 has the fcr carb and different airbox are definitelyy interesting.
I also wonder if the frame is identical and they just used different motor mounts ?

I don't think the frame will be identical, since they said that they changed the front-end geometry. That means something was changed up front and also the center of gravity is lower, so I'm sure the engine sits differently (engine mounts different like you said?).

Sounds like the '06 might be quite a ride, I bet the power isn't so mild anymore with that 12:1 compression. Wonder if I should put the YFZ up for sale:ermm: ;) . Nah, jk.

Yamaha fair share is not even compared to the many of years Honda had been "the best." Just to let you know.

honda made a change to the spindle and the frames are the same as far as anyone can tell. the engine was lowered in the chassis but the chassis is the same, except the electric start model has the battery tray on the subframe.

atvriders.com held a heads up comparision of the new YFZ and the new 450r today...results soon to be posted:cool:

i cant wait to see what really is better all i know is that my new 06 450r seems to do just fine i have had it for 3 days so i havent really got to see just how fast it is but 1st through 4th i can really tell its faster than my old z400 but if i remember in dirt wheels the yfz and 450 were neck and neck in the drag races so all u guys that say my 450r or my yfz can smoke ur 450 whatever they are like a **** hair away from being side by side give a foot or mabey two

I hate that design, they should've made it with the battery behind the airbox like everyone else does. That was the one thing I hated on my 400ex was taking and putting on the plastics because the solenoid always got in the way from the battery.

they also bumped the yfz up to a 450 i can tell a big change in the hp in the stock form with a pipe it will be very strong. if they would just change the thumb throttle it would be the best. i liked the 04 yfz over the 04 trx i have not yet road the 06 trx but i am very happy with the the new 06 yfz

And even the first one didn't look great:ermm: . I have to agree with you that the new one is even more ugly, what were they thinking? They should also change the 400ex plastics back to 400ex plastics...
