Probably been asked 100 Times

I have a 416ex and have a question about jetting! It is a JE 10.8:1 piston, Hot Cam stage II, Complete aftermarket exhaust, No air box, KN Filter, Stock Carb w/ Choke Mod, Dynojet Kit (needle, and main jet)

My dealer said 220 Main, needle in the 4th slot from the top and the 42 pilot which is already in cuz choke mod. Now i have been reading some of the setups on here and the 220 would be way off. So whats the deal? I have seen alot on here with like a 170 or in that ball park. Also how many turns out on the fuel mixture screw? 3, 3.5 ?

I would have to agree, 220main sounds really rich. Maybe start at 170 and go up from there if needed, your fuel/air mix screw will just be test and tune on how many turns you do on it and depending on which jet you go with. If you find a jet that seems pretty close then try to tune it in with the fuel/air mix screw

Well i live in southern illinois, and Myself and the other 4 guys i know that race 416s have all ran Between 165-180 main jets. I run a 170 and it seems to be just fine.

rember lean is fast, but it = heat
rich is slower,but it=cool

i would probably start with a DJ 160 main. remember, bigger does NOT mean faster.
