k, first to tell a little story. a friend of mine has copied everything ive done with my yfz. now hes gettin a bill balance pipe with a k&n filter. my crank shaft bearings went out on my yfz so i wont get it back from the dealer until 2 weeks. im thinking of getting hot cams (web cams?) and prodesign proflow k&n air filter without telling him. i know this wont be as much of a hp gain as his pipe, but do u think it will be close? i wanna race him once he gets the stuff and think it would be funny if i won.

I think it'd be a fair match. If you can shift faster/better than him you should win no problem. A cam will make a big difference in the YFZ along with that intake.

Cams don't really add that much horsepower, they mostly change the power curve of the engine. Usually by moving the power more into the upper RPM range. I don't think you'd pull off a win, but it will be close. I suggest going all out and getting an exhaust system before you add anything to the engine. Have you done the free cam mod to your YFZ yet? I'd say do that mod before adding different cams to see if you like the change.

Go to YFZCentral and do a search for "cam mod". You will find more than enough information to know how to do it yourself. It's supposed to be very easy to do it yourself, I plan on doing it this winter when I have mine apart.

Your basicly retarding the exhaust cam one tooth. It gives the bike more top end with slightly less bottom.

Actually, it's not supposed to take away any bottom end, it's just that it feels like you have less bottom end because there is more of a pull on the top.

A dyno showed a little bottem end lost.

If the dyno showed a little bottom end loss, then I'm sure it's probably not that noticeable, if at all, when riding.

The cam mod gives it 1 more horsepower! I think i read that in a mag. Does'nt sound like much but you'll notice a difference!

You can tell a difference thats for sure. I know i did. Didn't feel any bottem end loss but felt the top end power.
