Well,

I had a golf tournament yesterday and off of a tee shot my shot drifted into some tall grass.

Well, anyway I got home today and started itching all over. And quickly realized I had chiggers. I think i stepped into a nest. I would say I have about 100 bites. My legs look like I have the chicken pocks. I have not counted total bites but I have 35 on my right leg and 40 on my left leg so all together including my back and stomach I think I have right around 100. And they are driving me CRAZY!!!!!

My question, what can I do to rid the itch?? I hear they last for 7-10 days. I wont last that long I'll kill myself. Someone told me a bath w/ vineagar and someone else told me to put paint remover on them!! To me that sounds dangerous

I have had them many times since Iam in the middle of the pinelands of NJ. But I got them BAD this time!!

Anyone have any options for what I can do???

I need all the help I can get. They are really getting to me and am getting scared of infection.

Thank You.

Hmnm.. I think you should go see a local doctor and see what he say you should do to stop the itch and reduce the chance of getting infection. I rather be safe and not itchy than to itch and get possibly infected.

I've heard of people dousing their leg in gasoline. It burns, but that feeling feels good compared to the itching. I wouldnt do that without asking someone who really knows though, it sounds kinda fishy, but my science teacher said that is what his brother did when he had chiggers. Don't take any baths. It can spread them.

Chiggers are tiny parasites that burrow into your skin

Nope, I've done quit a bit of research on them. And this is false. They bite you and extract their saliva which has substances into it that react to your skin cells and cause the annoying itching. They never borrow into your skin, never lay eggs in your skin, and do not go into your skin through the pours of your skin. All of these are false. They bite and fall off similar to mosquitos and leave an annoying itch. Therefore the whole smuthering them with nail polish remover does nothing at all.

I cant believe the amount of people that did not know what a Chigger was!!!! I wish i didnt. They are small and annoying and oh baby if you thought mosquito bites itch!

I did hear the paint thinner one, maybe i will give it a shot.

Take a bath in Aveeno. It relieves itchy, irritated skin. You can get it at a walmart, target, kmart, type place.

The pink Calimine(SP) lotion works well and you can get it at any store over the counter. Use it every summer and it cures all skin irritations. Well not what MIXMASTERMIKE has though.:D

I just did some research and found some interesting ways to relieve the itch.

1) Gas.

2) Paint Thinner.

3) a moist advil tablet.

Iam going to try them.

The best thing that I have done to get rid of them was scratch the hell out of it then dump rubbing alochol on it.........it might burn a little but it never itched after that
