I really like the stuff that people have polished or chromed. Can you please post your various pics and let us know what you did...

I'm thinking my first polishing attempt is going to be on my heat shield!

Thanks!

chris,
how did you polishe the covers on your wifes (i think) R? I have my ignition and clutch cover in my lap right now (there painted black, o so ugly), whats the best way to polish them?

zzbudzz,,,,,,the translucent red is powdercoat with prism powder that i applied,,,and yes it will hold up quite well;)

stocktires,,,,,,,,,i used my 3/4 hp buffing motor with 10" wheels, it spins at 4600rpm an i use tripoli compound on one side and the other wheel uses white rouge to finish up the polish job. i polish stuff different than most on here i guess,,,not flaming but i dont use mothers polish etc,,,,,i use professional buffing compounds specifically for the wheels,,,,but i sure get good results. i can do it for you but it does take time.....you can get fair results by hand. Just make sure that the piece is VERY smooth.

I'd like you you to do it cuz Im swamped rightn now rebuilding my R (frame up) and I get off at 6:30 so that leaves little (if any) time for my R. How much do you charge? I want both sides done

keep in mind that it will take me about 5 hours(combined for both sides) to polish them once i get them stripped and smoothed out, that is a lot of standing and eating dust:),,,,,,,well lets say 125 plus shipping, it is a very time consuming thing if you want a good mirror finish. Water pump cover also??,,,,if so i cant get in the deep spots real well.

no, no water pump cover, i dont want a mirro finish, just a decent polish, nothing that i have to worry about polishing very often, will that take you less time? I understand its very time consumeing but I got an R to rebuild on a summer job salary, lmk, $125 sounds decent though

actually i dont have to keepup on my polishing very much,,,the compounds kind of seal the metal. some tarnish will occur but even after a couple of washes it still shines. i had just washed my wifes r before i took that picture and i hadent polished the stator case for a month or so...and didnt polish it after the wash either.....just wipe the water off so it doesnt spot.

125 (plus shipping)either way cause i will use up some compound and wear down the buffing wheels..........pm me or email me for my address if you decide,,,,,,,,,you wont be dissapointed.

WHere did you send your header to get a chrome ceramic coating. I really want to do this because i have a shiny sweet looking quad and then a pos big gun header that looks like it is rusting. How much was it also.

A company called American Supercars Unlimited in Waleska, GA did it. I think it was around $50. I'm not sure.

Well, this weekend I did some polishing of my own after looking at some of the polishing pics...

Here's my heat shield, I think it could use a little more work, but it's a good start. What do you think?

I also polished the top of my throttle cover. I need to polish the rest, but this got it started.
