Just a dumb question............I suppose the cooling fans on the 450r's only run when the motor runs, right? No battery to power it. Wonder how it will be on the 06' E start models?

I sure hope it will...if not I will have to rewire it. I know the z400 stays on with engine off. They seem to overheat when you try the same hill 15 times in a row. :ermm:

Yes...it should with a battery. It will run till the coolant reaches the temp at which the fan comes on/goes off. 210° or somewhere around that.

What does it matter? Think about this a minute. The fan runs while the engine is off, whats the fan cooling? If the engine is off the water pump is not pumping so theres no water circulation. If there no water circulation the engine can not be cooled anymore, so the only thing the fan is cooling is the water in the radiator. How does this cool the engine then, the fan mite as well shut off with the water pump.

Two reasons...thermal currents and when you restart the bike. If you were right then cars wouldn't have fans staying on after shut down when hot...and I would think they stay parked for longer.

I don't know what kind of car you drive but every thing I own/seen the fan shuts off with the vehicle

Honda civic...only does it on the hottest days of summer here...all the time when I lived back in AZ. And as far as quads go I know the z400 stays on when overheated.

The fan will only turn on when the engine is hot and is RUNNING on the 04 and 05 model.

On the 06 if you get a Electric start my guess is it will turn on even when the engine is off.
