i am looking for a dirtbike for a few reasons.....
number one is theres more dirtbike tracks around and theres one quad track that i no of around and isnt too far. so i am looking at the 250's

i am thinking about getting the yz250f hows the power? and handlings? or what other dirtbikes your think, i want a 4 stroke also

imo the yz250f is very simular to the yfz450, the have close to the same rwhp and power band

PM rider11x about "crossing over", he was forced to give up the sport after only a few months.

i know a few people with yzf's and they all like them quite a bit. i rode a crf250, and it was pretty fun. but twist throttle is really hard to adjust to, and ruts abso-friggin-lutly suck!! jumping is kinda weird. it's feels like you don't nearly jump as high, but landings are sooo much smoother.

and as far as power wise, i thought it didn't have as much power, and you really have to wring it's neck compared to the yfz. but with a pipe and a few other mods it would prolly be about the same

I'd go 250f, they have plenty of power for the average rider

i put a twist on my yfz, i dont know why but i like twists so much better

dont get a yz250f, get an rmz250. I know alloy mx will agree with me, they are the best 250f made right now

I rode both still do, I have more fun on a quad anyday of the week, only have fun on a bike doing fmx thats about it.. :o

id personally go with a yzf or crf 450, the 250s are nice but they lack power and the 450s are just as easy to ride and control i like the yzf motor but i prefer the crf chassis, so id prob go for the crf 450...and out ot the 250s its pretty much the same...the yzfs are nice bikes but they feel alot wider and stuff not as comfortable for me to move around on

im going dirtbike next year too, but im still keeping my 450r

im just getting a used 125, they go for cheap, and seeing how this would be my first year, racing a dirtbike and a quad at the same tim, i dont want to spend that much on something i may not even like

but it should be a fun experience, i rode my buds crf230 trail bike, and it was pretty fun, but way under powered, so i cant wait to feel the powerband of a real bike

yea that sucks....but its just a risk im going to take, it can happen if i still race quads maybe worse. who knows it worth a try to me, ive always wanted to race mx just not on a quad.

yeah the yz250f's are great bikes. and trust me the have lots of power.

ive been debating selling the trx for a crf450. Some muhc cheaper then quads, but i really dont want to be another lil ***** with a dirtbike, know what i mean?

you wont be, unless you start saying birtbikes should only be alound on tracks and not atvs, ans that db's rule, and atv require no skill to ride

We went to watch a MX race today... think I have him talked into either a 450R or YFZ450! :D

And to think part of the reason for him selling his 400ex and getting a bike was my accident last fall and looking at my ugly mug in a hospital bed... Guess I better not give up riding! :blah:

btw... 2001 Raptor hopefully sold soon... need a new frame for my LT250R... Maybe an 06 YFZ450 will sit in my garage next year! :D

Do what ya gotta do about switching to a bike. Only you know what's best for yourself. If you don't like it, you can always switch back. ;)

thats the good part is that i can switch back...but that wouldnt be for a while

don't think I'd go jumping straight to a 450 for my first bike, the 250yzf or crf250 would be a great choice
