my cousin and i ride a lot. he rides a 1988 250r. we ride in tight trails and i cant keep up with him. i was wondering if the new 450r would keep up with it or would it just get smoked?

depends, if the 250 was stock you would kill it, but 250s nowadays are never stock, most likely if its not stock, it will beat you

what mods does it have?

go 450r, 2strokes are so outdated nowadays, aside from the ping sound, most 4strokes go as fast as, or faster than 250r's, and alot more reliable

and with those bans on 2stroke production coming, i would be afraid of how far they could take it, what if they found a way to ban all 2stroke use? or if 2strokes were banned from racetracks
then you would really be screwed

Get a 450R. Been there done that. 4 strokes are faster in the woods.

Well it depends on the rider. A stock 450r will beat a 250r (stock)
without a problem. Put a cam, pipe, piston, and rejet a 450r and it will run neck and neck with 250r's with 310 kits etc. Go with 450 you won't be disappointed.

It has a lot more to do with the rider than the machine.

I think I will go 250r. I race MX, and I can get a 250r with long travel pep shocks and every aftermarket part you can dream of for the price I can get a stock 450r. Plus the 250r sits and handles better.

I know the 450 will be more reliable, but I can't justify, nor do i have the money to buy a $6000 quad and put 10 grand in parts in it, Especially when I can buy a 250r set up for what I need for 5 grand and not have to put anything on it. They are both equally fast. Plus they are both Honda's, so I can't go wrong either way.

the 250r can be superior if in the right hands. it takes alot more skill to pilot a 250r to its full potiental, if you want something that is easier to ride then go 450. to be honest, i want one of each. a 06 450r sure would look nice next to the 250r.

Yea, I know 250r's take more skill to ride, but I'm up for a new challenge. I would like to have both but I cant afford it.
