I notice alot of people use K&N filters, but when I researched for my car, I found most people liked foam filters better for dirt/off road type situations since it does a better job of filtering small particles, and is easier to clean. Any comments? (I still have a stock filter BTW)

Personally I use foam filters and when maintained they have always got the job done. From what I have heard the stock filter flows really good. If opening up the airbox is an option that is the best way to get more air into the engine. The only bike I ever had a fabric/paper filter on was a Warrior and to say the least it has a poor filter setup and was ridden in alot of mud so I couldn't really blame the filter for any engine damage.

I believe the stock filter is made by uni.

if you would like to have more flow with the stock filter & air filter support you could cut the back fire screen from the air filter support.
