400 wont start help

when i was riding a week or so ago my quad stalled out and since then it wont start with my push starter, it will only jump start and then it runs 100% perfect. the battery that i have in it brand new. i checked the fuses and they are perfect. when i used a booster it starts right up. i tryed checkin all the connections but i know i didnt get all of them. i left my manual at my dorm room so i dont have anything to go by. anything will help.

i checked my battery and it seems to be good. im thinking that i might have missed a fuse along the way. anyone else got anything? thanks

When you say booster are you referring to a batt booster box? if so then it would seem to me that the problem is in your battery ,if it were a fuse then it wouldn't crank even with the booster. how did you check the batt? what was the voltage? a full charge should be alittle over 13v.

i just bought a new battery for it cause i thought that it was my battery taht was the problem. found out that it wasnt my battery the hard way. i checked my battery by clamping one end of a set of jumper cables to the positive pole and then i jsut tapped it on the opposite pole. when you do that if it arc the battery is still good. so my situation is that i have 2 good batteries and a quad that doesnt start.

even if the battery is bad it would still have an arc to it. What you need to do is have it tested at a autoparts store to see how many amps it has. Also when you jump it do you jump it with 12 volts or what?

i dont know wat we jumped it with cuase my buddy did it for me. i figured that the battery still would arc even if the battery was bad but i was told to do taht to test it.
why would it work one sec and then stall out and not work again is my question. cause what happened was i was riding, it stalled out and then no elec start. still jump starts but no elec start.

What does it do when you crank it over or will it crank over?

i have a dirt bike kill switch as my starter so i jsut press that when i start it. and when i press it now nothing. no crank, nothing.

totally off topic but im assuming that you have a gixxer? what size wat do you think of it, im planning on picking one up myself.

so no electric start... ok might look into the soleniod switch.

my guess would be the starter
if its just cranckin over and not doin anything its deff. the electric starter
if not that then check the plug to make sure its still good

cus if u can jump start it its not a fuse b/c if u ride a quad with a missing fuse or somethin it wont move two feet

its not that it wont crank over, it will start when i jump start it but with the electric start it does nothing at all.

it will start when a booster is hooked up to the battery, why would that mean my starter is junk?
