currently i ride a 400ex and really like it, but i want a new bike.

ive ridden one predator for like a minute(03) and i really enjoyed it. the power was nice, everything was just how i wanted it.

how much should i expect to pay OTD for one?(Ca)
are there alot of power mods for it?

or am i better off keeping the Ex and modding the piss out of it?

I rdie a 400ex with a stage 2 hot cam, wiseco 10:1 piston aand couple other mods.

One of my rding buddies has a predator and its was near stock and i had no chance of keeping up in long flat out runs. Now he is modding it and its just gonna get worse.

My though is that its gonna cost me more to mod the ex then it willb e to just upgrade. I will more then likely own a predator next spring

The 400EX is a nice trail bike but when you start wanting that kind of power I think you would be much better off getting the Preddy too.

i think you would be alot more happy with a 450R. To me, when i got my 450 from a 400, the 450 was EVERYTHING i always wanted my 400 to be.

Oh so I guess you just know all of our riding styles. Thank you for setting us straight on what quad would be better for all of us. Geeze and to think I was seriously gonna buy the pred.

LOL!!

anyways, the 450R is pretty much out, unless i can find a new one with the electric start for the same price as a predator.

does anyone here ride trails on a pred? im just curious if the low ground clearance will be an issue in mud or over rocks while trail riding.

I ride the Predator in the woods and race harescrambles and GNCC with it. It performs great and I've not had any mechanical issues with it yet. Good luck with your decision. You should be able to find a good deal on an '05 right now. Polaris has some rebate program on the '05s now so check it out. I'd think you should be able to find a standard predator for 5300 or so right now.

actually i would have one right now if i could find that kinda pricing.

the local dealer was out of regular 05s, but had 1 troy lee left for 5999. comes out to about 6499OTD. then an 06' regular for 6199. otd of about 6699....ugh.

i called various dealers and the local is the cheapest. then i called a yamaha dealer an hour away. 200 bucks more and i can get a YFZ

Does polaris run rebate programs often? i really want a predator. in order to get one now, i will have to save 1500-2000 dollars and try and get 3500 for my stock 400ex(i wanna have very low payments)

so we'll see where things go in the next few months.

Give Motoworld of El Cajon a call. I think they had some lower prices and they had all three style of Predator in stock.

thats farther then i wanna drive. im in northern Ca.

anyways, i was playing around with a loan calculator, and if i can save up 1k total, and sell my quad for 3500, i will be in the ballpark for buying myself a predator. im 600 down from where i need to be :D

maybe ill get lucky and right when i get 1k, polaris will have a deal for the 06's by then.

after figuring things, it'll be better this way, so i can get my budget together to account for the cell phone plan i have to get tonight.
