ok well i am getting a new car soon and am curious what i should get. i want something with decent gas mileage, decent power, and something that looks sporty. right now i am looking at a toyota celica and a hyundai tiburon. anything else along that line and price i would consider. i am looking to spend about 14k. thanks

go for the svt focus there alot better for alittle bit more. if you looking into something like that do you want a new car or a used car? if i were you id go with an older honda. great gas milage you can pick em up for cheap and they last forever.
get a sohc model if you want to save gas. and unless your looking to modify dont get something sporty cause theres no point to having something thats looks fast but only has 130whp if that

i don't think i can afford one of these. i was originally thinking of getting about an 01 or 02 gt, but i don't know about the gas mileage.

gas milage is terrible. if you want gas milage go with a 4 cyl. how much you got to spend

get a civic si...stay away from escorts they are junk...always broke. you could pick up a z28 with around 50k miles for that price....perhaps an eclipse. but if u want all around power, reliability, gas miles, go with the si....

i already said i had $14000 to spend. i don't really want a small car though, so a civic is out.

how can you say escorts are junk? have you ever owned one, my brothers wife bought a brand new 01 in 2000 and it's been nothing but solid reliability, and they even live on a dirt road that gets extremely rough, and the car has been reliable as ever.

I recently bought a 98 Acura CL. After 4 months of having it people still comment about how nice it is. Couldn't be happier so far (except for the 105,000 mile tune-up). It was a bit pricey for parts but very cheap insurance that the engine will hold up another 100k.

I kind of ruled out an accord for the simple fact that Ohio is Accord country and didnt want what everyone else had.

The nice thing is about 75% of the accord parts in the same model year bolt directly onto the CL which is easier come repair time. If your familiar with your current accord then you will know your way around this one as well. My wife has had a 93 accord for 4 years and has nearly 300,000 miles on it, nothing but oil changes, brakes, and a FEW sets of tires.

If you are into the whole "Tuner" thing, Then get a VW. The GTI's are about the same size as a CRX and have more power than a civic. They look cooler IMO as well, and you probably won't get bashed as much for having a Civic. Can't beat a german Car!

I Plan on getting one as soon as I can afford it! A silver 3 Door is what I want. You don't even need a body kit on them, they look good as is. Reliable as well!

dude you are not making any sense here....look at a gti and an si hatch....both very similar cars....trust me cause thats what i had my choice narrowed down to. the si (which i own) is actually more roomy and comfortable than the gti. so if you rule out the si becuase its "small" rule out the focus, gti, celica, basically any sportier car. gti's are faster no question, but the main deciding factor with them was reliability. i surfed the net, talked to mechanics did ALOT of research on them....then on the si. and well again refer to what i said i own. esp. the earlier model gti's like 01-03 they say had a bunch of problems. so yes i talk from experience with this topic

and as for escorts...please dont get me started on that topic. about 3000 of my friends had escorts...all different makes and models. about 2999 had broke down and left them sit at some point. so again i can speak from experience. ask anybody about escorts that is knowledgable in the auto world....they will tell you what i say. and quick...please....some punk tried to race me at a light in a zx3....note the word tried it was a pure joke.....wish i had video taped it

Yeah, When my sister was buying a car (2000 Nissan Sentra) I talked to the dealer about GTI's and They said it was a maintenence Nightmare during the earlier 2000+ Models. I'm pretty sure they fixed them though. I've never driven or been in a SI so I can't really tell you much about them. I'm sure its a good car either way, You almost need an import to afford gas these days..

i don't see how i don't make sense. the smallest car i listed i wanted was a celica. my other choice was a tiburon. i'm saying i don't want a civic or a gti. i'm not all in to the ricer thing, and i know a tiburon and celica are, but i think they are the least of any car. i originally wanted a mustang, so i may just stick with that.

If you want something that gets good mileage, is really fast, and gets looks, go with a VW Golf GTI VR6. One of my friends has one of these and it flies. He just recently let me drive it and let me tell you, it is a blast. It hugs corners and accelerates quick and he claims he has gone 146 in his. The fastest i've ever seen was 135 when i and another friend were with him (an extra 375 LBS). You can fit 4 people in it, it has plenty of cargo room (or if you want subs he has 2 12" audiobahn subs). You would have so much fun with it. If i hadnt already bought my truck before i drove his car that is what i would have got. In about a year im sure ill be tired of no gas mileage and i think i will look for one of those. The only mods he has done (to my knowledge) is he removed his airbox that is up at the front passenger side fender, and put a big K&N air filter there, he did not BUY a CAI, he just put the K&N where the airbox was. He also has a performance chip. I think he said the filter was $30 at advanced auto parts and the chip was around $150 or $200. You can find these things for around 4-5 grand if you dont mind something in the mid 90's. If you have 14k to spend you could take 3k of the money you had left over and add a turbo onto the VR6 and you would be untouchable in a race. I've personally been with him when he has raced a Montecarlo SS, Impala SS, Grand Prix GT, Mustang GT, his brothers lowered silverado with a 383 stroker (roller rockers, street/strip cam, stone racing headers, glass packs, he also has some TBI mods) and he has beat them all. The only one that hung with him until about 4th gear was the 383. Just my $.02.
Did i mention he gets 28 MPG. Good Luck with whatever you get.

I didnt see the thing against GTI's till after I posted, Tiburon IMO is about the most riced car there is, because it is made in Korea, it is one of the cheapest brands around, and unless you get the V6 it is slow (and even the v6 is not that impressive). The V6 that is in the VW is a High Compression 2.8 V6. That is deffinitley not a ricer motor. His doesnt have a fart can on it either, just removed the resonator and it sounds awesome. If you change your mind and think the GTI might be a possibility maybe we can get you some videos of his, sound clips, and ill post some pictures in a few minutes.

I would also look at the Subaru's, not the STI but your Impreza's and Legacy's. There very reliable and go just about go anywhere because of there AWD. With the Subaru's there are ways from switching to AWD to FWD, which gives you excellent gas mileage.:D

The rx8 may be underpowered but i is a great car as far a looks (imo), handleing and it is RWD. The only down fall is i believe the MPG is 18. They are going for cheap now a days too.
