how loud is it? I hope it isn't one of those abnoxous pipes like a cobra. Oh yah and if you don't mind me asking how much? I'm thinking about going to a 416, 10:1, tc mx cam pretty soon and dunno if I want a tc, fatboy 4, or a fmf.

I really like the TC Pipe. I would Buy another one again. It adds the most Power in the Bottom End, which is where I wanted it. The Middle also has a much harder hit. I`m very Happy with the Power Increase. It sounds Sweet. It`s the Best 4 Stroke sounding Pipe I have ever heard. If you have ever heard a Pro Circuit T-4, they are about the same Loud wise. There are Louder Pipes out there. Mine was $319 plus Shipping. If you are going to get the Piston and Cam from TC I would get his Pipe. The Pipe is suppose to add more Power as you Mod the Motor.

the $319 dollars was that for a slip on or the header too? Do you think it would be a good choice with a sparks cam, bored to 416, 10:1 piston, sparks exhaust is kinda pricy either that does anyone know of a pipe that is similer to a sparks pipe?
hetrick425ex
06-10-2002, 09:20 PM
the hetrick pipe like i have is pretty similar to the sparks x-6
Dave400ex
06-10-2002, 09:22 PM
The $319 is the Slip-On. The Header is Stock. Tom doesn`t like Aftermarket Headers. He says the Stock Headers add more Torque. I would get the Pipe by the person who is Building your Motor. I would get TC Parts with the TC Pipe. You could look at the Hetrick`s Pipe.

you have to cut the stock header 5 inches i believe.

You have to cut the stock heder 5 1/2 inches
Warriorman, Tom has sold out of his pipes!!! he said he will start making some more this week if he gets his materials in!!
Dave400ex
06-11-2002, 09:01 AM
Man I bet I have sold most of those for him. :D I called Tom yesterday because I am still having Problems with Fouling Plugs. I listed the Jetting and everything I had done and he said hey that`s the Jetting I run. He said don`t touch the Carb. Tom told me to get some kind of 7 Plug instead of running the 8 and the Plug should stay Clean. So Guys who are getting Pipes may want to run a 7 if you have Problems with the Stock Plug.
ChadEXer
06-11-2002, 03:15 PM
A 7 is a hotter plug than the stock 8. I am going to run a 9 in my bike because it lowers the head temp by 5 degrees and engine builders say its good for your motor and helps it last longer. Duncan is the one who told me that. I guess I better ask Tom what he thinks I should do!!!
Dave400ex
06-11-2002, 03:38 PM
Well Tom told me to run the 7. I asked him and he told me either one, but the Plug should stay Clean? Will this make my 400 run Hotter? I want it to quit Fouling Plugs, but don`t want it to run Hotter. I should call him back and ask about it.
ChadEXer
06-11-2002, 04:02 PM
It seems like if the 9 makes it run cooler then the 7 would make it a little hotter! I dont know. You probably should ask him!! let me know what he says!

Well I tried to Call but it was Busy. I think he just takes the Phone off the jack for a while sometimes.
ChadEXer
06-12-2002, 08:08 AM
I think so too, heck, he is the only guy there working and you know he has got a lot of motors to build!! Im surprised he ever answers the phone!!!
Jet it with the dprz8 plug,,,you shouldn't have to change your plug to fix the problem. just play with your jetting some more or put a powerbong on it....:D <--dat was for chad...;)
Dave400ex
06-12-2002, 08:44 AM
I already did the Jetting he told me to. When I called him I told him I did the 152 Main, Stock Pilot, Stock Needle, and 3-1/2 Turns out on the Mixture Screw. He said my Carb sounded Fine. So he said if I run the 7 it should stay Clean. I am still trying to Call him and ask about it.

Whens that gonna be Chad, hasn't TC had your engine for about 8 months now, lol.

No I think it has been around 6. That`s how long TC took on my Brother`s Motor. You Guys might think that it is Nuts to wait that long, but the first thing my Brother said was, "I`m glad I waited". His Motor flat out hauls.
Also I just called TC. He told me the Plug will not make it run Hotter. He said if I want my 400 to run to listen to him and do what he says. So I will be getting some D7EA Plugs now.

looks like I got some 9 plugs I might have to get rid of!!
Knighttime:D , he has had my motor for about 4 months!! Ive been saying Im going to for a long time but its finally for sure, I will have the rolling chassis back together this weekend!! Then I can order all the parts Im lost while waiting for my motor!!!

When your having some guy like Tom port a R. The best thing to do would be to send him your cylinder and pick up a used one on ebay for 150 bucks so you can ride in the mean time.

lmfao
(TC might as well stick a cheap alarm clock on that 505 since he's building a time bomb.) :square

Yeap, I unbolted it from the frame and shipped the whole thing off to him. Im beginning to think I should have just sent him the top end and the crank. When I talked to FST and Trinity they wanted the "whole" motor so I assumed TC would have to but I dont think he needed the whole thing!! I could have saved a little on shipping! I dont think its going to be a time bomb, i talked to a guy that has had his TC 490 for over 6 months, said he rides the piss out of it and hasnt had a problem yet! Also Cody has a 490 TC with no problems!! TC says I will have no problems with it!!! he said it will run great forever as long as i change the oil often and adjust the valves accordingly,,,he said that its VERY more important on a big bore that that stuff is done!!

Well I don`t think it will be a Ticking Time Bomb. If Tom says it will be Fine then I think it will. I guess Chad will find out.

when are u getting this 505?
every motor dies someday, jus depends on how high the motor is strung to determine the life of the motor, and the owner intelligence
Dave400ex
06-13-2002, 10:25 AM
Yeah it should last a Long Time. There are still 250r Motors out there without any Rebuilds on them. As long as it is taken care of it will be Fine.
